Hiya,
I have an Ebay account - I have thousands of stars and am a good ebayer.
I got an email recently from paypal saying that my account had been 'limited' meaning that i couldn't now send or recieve any payments and that I needed to follow certain steps to get it back to a full account.
I followed their steps and sent them the info required. (scanned copies of passport, bank statements etc)
Well, this morning I got an email saying that my account had now been closed and that I can have me money in 180 days!
Im so annoyed. I have items on Ebay that are still being bid on that I assume I will have to cancel?
I have been given no explanation as to why this has happened, however, I *think* I know why.
Bascially, my brother who is always up to no good had been using my computer for his own dodgy ebay dealings whilst I wasn't around (using HIS own Ebay account)
On top of that, he recently sent money to my paypal account from his. I didn't ask him to send me the money. In fact, I told him not too! He didn't owe me anything. He sent it anyway. I think it must have been part of his dodgy dealings. I REJECTED the money using the paypal feature.
This is when the problems began!
They must have LINKED us together based on surname/IP adress etc.
What more could I have done?
Assuming this is the reason for them suspending me, I cant help it if someone dodgy sends me money(which i rejected)!
They are impossible to get hold of and never explain reasons for anything.
Can anyine give me and advice/contact email addresses etc?
Im annoyed about the 180 days thing, but mostly that my Ebay hobby that ive done for years has to now end (along with my account with hundreds and hundreds of positive feedback
thanks

Why did they limit your account i the 1st place?
I got an email saying that the account was limited soon after being sent money to my paypal from my brother
(money which I rejected as i didn't want anything to do with!)
Then, after jumping through their hoops (passport scans etc) they closed the account.
Like I say, they dont explain anything and this is only a guess as to why they limited(and then closed my account)
I cant think of any other reason other than being connected to my idiot brother0 -
I got a phishing email yesterday purporting to be from Paypal which I forwarded onto the Paypal team. It was a follow up email to one sent to me last week.
The email didn't address me by name.
I just don't understand why they need scans of your passport and bank statements. There's no reason I can think of.Saving money right, left and centre0 -

From what you have said I don't hold out much hope for your account. You need to try and be proactive. Phone them and try and explain the situation is your only hope. 08707 307 191
Also cancel all your ebay sales as you don;t want to wreck your account while you're trying to sort this out.0 -
Had me worried there for a second, Lulu! (in fact, I ws both worried, and happy that at least my accounts were still active and fine)
But they all appear to be genuine. Clearly from service@paypal.co.uk0 -
The thing is as far as PP are concerned something Dodgy has been going on from a person or persons with the same surname and same IP address and geographical address from the same computer. So it's pretty easy to see why they think your account is dodgy. The 180 day hold is standard and in the user agreement as chargebacks can happen up to 180 days from credit cards so PP are protecting themselves from possible loss

Yes, I can see their problem but at the same time I feel completely hard-done-by.
I cant help it if someone dodgy sends me money! (which I rejected)
Im a really good, honest ebayer with a boat loads of positive feedback.
I have taken your advice and cancelled my current items for sale (one of them was doing really well)
Thanks for the phone number
Are there any email adresses that can also be used?0 -

I'm gobsmacked that Paypal require these docs. Also I don't understand the problem with your brother putting money into your Paypal account, unless it's £0000's.
Hopefully some more experienced posters can contribute ideas
