We actually check the imei on our tilling system and it brings up it's purchase date (even if not from us) and when it's warranty expires. We send off phones all the time, they go to anovo which is a generic repair agent so they don't mind.
Even if were is a quote we contact you first, you are allowed to reject it and have the phone returned.
Only time they have ever asked for a proof of purchase is fir blackberries 1 year+ because only O2 extend the warranty ( compared to cpw and p4u )0 -
A better cheap Android phone is the ZTE Blade, which masquerades as the Orange San Fransisco. Bought mine from Argos for £99 including unused £10 topup. Can be unlocked online for free and flashed with Orange-free firmware. Much higher screen resolution too.0
