  • I was worried that the church wouldn't be available on the 01st April being Palm Sunday but the Vicar was very accomodating and said he'd make this exception just once!

This is the fairytale wedding I've dreamed of - well apart from the fact that it isn't in the back garden of my grandparents home back in Zimbabwe but I can live with that!

What made me realise that that venue was THE ONE was as I walked into the Old Coaching Stables was on the was was a huge picture of a Strelitzia which is a South African flower and in the garden an enourmous Weeping Willow tree. Both significant for me - the flower because of where I grew up and started life and the tree because it's the tree that I loved the most in my grandparents garden and would often go and sit under for shade when it got so hot!

hmmmm I had an idea last night which was to have one blue rose in each of the bouquets and on the table centres? They'll be a symbol of each person we have lost in our family - ie OH's Mother, my Grandfather, my uncle, my stepfathers best friend etc? and when the ceremony is over and we are back at the venue they can be placed on the rememberance table with a candle?

your venue sounds lovely. Sounds like a good idea re flowers too.

I had my own little sweat shop going yesterday to make favours so i can box them up and hide them at my mothers (my house is a smoking house and don't want smell to get to them). Went round to my BM's houses on Saturday and they all love the dresses and tiaras and were talking about the hen night already. Think i've got them all excited now ha ha.

Sometimes i wish it was this April :D

  • NC - my poor grandfather thought it was this year! he called me last night to check what time the wedding was so that he can book his flights! LOL! when I said "it's next year Gramps", his reply was "well you better make sure that I stick around long enough!"

I'm not sure if I'm going to have any favours at our wedding! It's going to be such an informal reception, I don't think there is any need! However, I'd start early like you have if I was! Hmmmmm maybe I should do something for the kids that are coming?

Excited - 391 days to go!

I had the same problem when i sent my save the dates out - which i had to do early as many of my family have holidays in the easter :-)

I was debating on favours but decided they give a little bit of colour on the table :-)

My OH has found some software to do your own photobooth and some software to do 'bobble heads' but i'm not sure whether i want either of them lol :)

  • I refused to send out save the date cards - i'm the eldest neice, granddaughter and cousin so therefore those oversea's should remember our date! And it's even easier now it's blinking april fools day! LOL! I'm really hoping ALL of my family overseas can make it but if not, just my aunt, uncle, gran and grampa will do!

I really am thinking of ditching the favours - but seriously thinking of something for the kids. Or I might put the money I've budgeted for favours toward something else which makes more sense!

    What are bobble heads?

The easiest way to explain it is... http://sendables.jibjab.com/

Basically rather than uploading a photo they do it live - so the kids can sing along to the music on the background - i seen it at a wedding fayre last week and it looked quite good. But its £450 to do so found some free software online and just need a green screen (OH is an IT geek and said the software is amazing...). I'm still not sure whether its good or not. It records everyone doing it which can be burnt to disk and given out instead of thank you cards. We going to buy some green felt and see if it works as well as it should before making a final decision.

I'm going to do some kiddy favours too but need to figure out how many will realistically come. :-)

I don't know where i seen it but rather than favours someone gave everyone funny face masks which provided a table ice breaker.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh clever!

Right off out to a meeting - will be back at 7pm ! zzzzzzzzzzzzz
  • I feel I should incorporate my South African-ness (haha! Is that even a word??) by having something that symbolises where I've come from in our wedding... so I've come up with having pink/grey seashells on the tables as "scatter shells" instead of the tried and tested flower petals. I've found a site which supplies pink cockles http://www.shellco.co.uk/CF031PNK.html

    What do you think?

I could have a really pretty country garden type flower arrangement in the centre with shells scattered on the table...?

I think the shells would be really pretty. They almost look like petals on first glance.

Favours... we're having wooden egg cups that my Grandad is making for us, with some kind of eggs in them... 3 options for what eggs... egg shell candles, a kinder egg, or mini eggs. Not sure which yet!!!

Egg shell candies! It'll be Easter! Oooooh you've got to!

We are sitting in bed choosing wedding songs! Lol! My OH is getting right into the wedding planning! I love it! :)

I think I'll get the shells... I like the idea of them looking like petals!
