  • Random question - with the IVT heat pump is it possible to mix both radiators and UFH. Currently we have radiators throughout the house. We are building a new extension and wondered if I could have UFH in just the new part?
Yes, absolutely. We have that. I imagine it's fairly common. You need to fit a mix valve operated from the GSHP controller and separate temperature sensor so that the UFH operates at a lower temperature (curve slope is lower). The user manual shows where to fit the valve.

Would that mean running new pipes from the GSHP to the new areas? That would be a pain as it's in a barn not the house and fair amount of tarmac in between :(
  • Hi,
I was curious so I have just been out to check the resistance of my capacitors and the compressor, so I know in future if I have the same problem is it the capacitors or is it the compressor. This is on my IVT HT+ E9, so your values may differ slightly.

With everything wired up, but the GSHP switched off
Compressor Run Winding 1.5ohms - Terminal 2/N (Common Blue Wire) to 4/T1 (Run Black Wire) on the Danfoss Soft Starter
Compressor Start Winding 2.3ohms - Terminal 2/N (Common Blue Wire) to Brown Wire connected to Run Capacitor (Smaller silver one) (or Terminal 2 on Start Relay)

Capacitors - Check for short circuit. You should get a reading across the terminals which will then rise to open circuit (OL). This is easiest to check by checking between 1/N and 3/L1 on the Soft Starter.

Ah thanks for that will pass it on to my electrician. Funnily enough he was over at the weekend writing details down for the capcitors. We sat there for 2 hours waiting for it to trip - nothing!

Going to replace them just in case though :)
Oh cool. This is the wiring and parts for mine (yours might be slightly different values). I'll be very interested to see if they are.

Fingers crossed new capacitors get fitted this weekend, the error is happening hourly now!
Good luck. Have you tested the capacitor or compressor resistance?

Not yet, he's doing all that at the weekend (hopefully)

No, but you'd need to run the wire from the mix valve and the temperature sensor to have them controlled by the GSHP controller. In your situation I'd just have a manual mix valve

So literally a mixer type valve that I adjust couple of times a year till I'm happy with the temp? And this connects to my existing radiator pipe work. I will ask my plumber just want to get my head around the concept first.

Yeah, exactly. It just blends a portion of the colder water returning from the ufh with the hotter flow from the GSHP so that the ufh runs cooler than the rads.
  • Hi, turned on heating from our ecoforest GSHP today. We’ve not used heating much since it was installed in March, just occasionally in spring and it worked fine then and has happily given domestic hot water. Now, after the heating being on today for 45 mins and starting to warm up the radiators, it gave error code “pCOe number: 1. pCOe offline”

The user manual doesn’t include a list of error codes and says to contact the installer which we’ll do on Monday, but in the mean time does anyone know what the issue might be?

    Hi @Strummer22
My IVT unit has several RCD breakers inside, accessible by removing a couple of screws and the front panel. If I had a similar problem to you I'd be checking that none of these have tripped. No idea if your Ecoforest unit has similar RCD's or removable cover.

From a look at the manuals I couldn't discern any more than you but this or similar might be your pCOe

I've got no experience with Ecodan, so I'm guessing, but could you try a complete system reset? From what patrol has found that looks like the module that does all the switching, so might just need resetting?

    Hi @Patrol

I appreciate the advice. I took the front panel off but there's another panel below with about 20 screws before you reach any components. I'm not the most technically savvy and clearly the manufacturer doesn't want unqualified users messing with it. We're not freezing cold so I think I'm willing to wait for the experts.

and @beardymarrow I don't know how to do a system reset, that option doesn't seem to be available from the menus. I did turn power to the control unit and compressor off and on again though - no luck.

No, sounds sensible as anything intended for the consumer shouldn't be hidden behind that many screws so best to wait. Hopefully they will get it working and advise if there is anything you can do yourself in future.
