Dreams Beds Ripped Off my Disabled Mother

Hi,

My elderly mum is disabled due to having a serious illness. She recently bought a bed from Dreams Beds at Clifton Moor, York. She was told by the sales person she was buying an all singing and dancing electric bed, but was only sent a basic model.

Dreams are now denying that she ordered this bed - but I was with her and I know that she did. The CEO hasn't got the decency to honour the order and Customer Services are bullying her. They won't give her a refund even though the bed hasn't been used. DO NOT BUY FROM DREAMS THEY RIP PEOPLE OFF!!!!!

I have started a Facebook group " Dreams Beds rip off disabled people" Please encourage everybody you know to join this group.

Thanks

as far as i was aware, dreams will take the bed back but charge 20% restocking fee. I starting a CCJ against Dreams as they verbally promised a ful refund and they met me half way. I am sure on their terms they will accept it back.

If she paid for the bed she should have a receipt stating what she paid for. If it doesn't match up with the bed she received she can point that out to them. If it does it will be her word against theirs.

You need to be more specific, what features did they say it would do, and what features does it actually do?

Can you tell us the name of the beds so we can have a look on the website?

Not able to find your facebook page.

Yes she has a receipt. This bed cost over £1,100 after a VAT discount due to her disability.

We spent over 1 hour with the Sales Man who led us to believe she was buying an electric bed with massage units and wireless handsets, but when it was delivered it had no massage units and the handsets were wired. The driver advised to accept delivery as Dream would sort it out. They have now said they won't do anything other than sell her a massage unit at half price as the massage units are not coded onto her invoice - how were we to know this it just states the name of the bed! and why should we buy something that we were led to believe she had already bought. So she's ended up with a bed that she could have bought for half the price elsewhere. We believe this bed was Mis sold - but don't know how to prove this.

Is the price for the bed she has the correct amount, or has she paid for and received the "non-wireless/massage" model?

No, we were told at the time of ordering that that was the price for the deluxe model with the wireless handsets and massage unit, otherwise we would have ordered it with them, as we could buy a basic electric bed for half the price on the internet.

They are now saying we have only paid for a basic model. But we are not stupid people, we know what was said to us on the day. They have now removed the model from sale and they have moved the sales assistant to another store, but they won't tell us which one or i would go and speak to him direct.

What does the invoice actually state? No bull, no what you thought...just what does it say?
  • There should be, at least, some sort of stock code on the receipt. Otherwise, how would the people in the warehouse differentiate between the basic model and the deluxe model for delivery.
Just quote the code to a different branch of Dreams and ask them to confirm the name and price of the bed (Tell them your friend had this bed but forgot what it was called, and you want to buy one)
    Don't tell them the truth.

If they confirm that it the deluxe version, go straight down to Trading Standards and report it. Possibly ask an inspector to accompany you to the shop in question.
