I love you all, we move from quotes to music to film so effortlessly. Wonderful. I will admit that when I have read a really good book I am often very disappointed in the film. A book gives you so much more opportunity to expand on a theme, use your imagination to build the character (who, by the way, never looks the same in a film. I mean I love Morgan Freeman but he is never Alex Cross - well in my mind, Alex Cross is much more Sidney Poitier)
Well, I didn't spend the money so it went into the respective pigs for future dreams.

It is Moo's birthday today - he is seven.

Happy birthday, Moo! Have a virtual bone, wrapped in crinkly paper that you can tear up and drive your human crazy!

I have the same problem with films - I may not be able to remember where my keys are or the ages of my kids but I can remember exactly the colour of a character's hair. It drives DH mad. :rotfl:

Also, who else 'hears' a piece of writing by someone who they have heard speaking in their voice? Sad, or what?

PS Sean Connery IS James Bond!
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

not sad at all, I know exactly what you mean. I also see a picture of the author and imagine what they sound like as they are writing. Yes James Bond - definitely should sound like Sean Connery.

who DC Morgan or Sidney? And yes I havent read any in a while. But then I was having this conversation the other day about when an author gets a book deal how they end up with a formula and after a few it becomes boring.
Currently i am reading Val McDiarmid but I had taken a rest from her for a while.
And then I love Cecelia Aherne for a bit of escapism girly reading when I am not reading my serious stuff.

Sidney Poitier Cheri, but his sidekick John Sampson I see as the guy who played High Tower in Police Academy ! Weird how the mind works.

Excuse me while I turn your thread into a reading review - Yep tried Val McDermid, have had a Lee Child phase, Celia is good, am actually a little lost at the moment after reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Agree totally on the JP thing, see he started it all over again with a new hero Michael Bennett, read one and it's all the same. Shame.

Hope Moo had a lovely day :)

Turn away all you like DC. I love books (see my first thread) but I have lost my way a little of late. Need to feed my passion a little I think. Yes I have read a few Lee Child books too. I also love Jonathan Kellerman. Not read any of his for while so I might have a look for one of those. Haven't read Kathryn Stockett though.
