Tricia your quote says it all tooBut how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
The thing is this job is exactly what I wanted to do when I left school all those years ago but I was told that I was too youngSome days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Thanks Cheery, not heard anything at all so far but it is early days. I have now applied for another one!
I have had a lovely weekend. Mr C's birthday went well, I gave him his wellies in the morning. Took him for lunch to the Arts Centre and then we went on a treasure hunt. I had spent the afternoon planting clues in the forest under rocks and inside trees. He found them all, the clue gave him a clue to the present (which was at home). I had a celebration canon which we set off by the stream whilst having a small glass of wine which I produced from my backpack. We had walked Moo to the forest (I said I had no money for petrol) we then walked home to eat a home made slow cooker curry and then I produced the pressies to match the clues. The most favourite seems to be the Famous Five books so far.
Today was a no spend day. Trip to the prom to sit on the beach and read our books (Famous Five for him, Why dont you fly for me - will do a post eventually on the blog about that one). Very relaxed day indeed.
Hope you are all doing well. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Sounds like an absolutely lovely birthday for Mr C - well done you! :j :j :j :j0

Thanks Cheery, we did have a nice time. I think he was rather pleased with his wellies as we have since been out splashing in the river several times.
Now then, it is 5 months 4 weeks and 2 days to the end date for the rental on the house in Austria. I am debating starting a new diary with a focus on money saving towards my patchwork lifestyle in Austria. I have several ideas for a patchwork life these are
- bed and breakfast lets
- aromatherapy practice
- reflexology practice
- tour guiding
- writing and editing
- virtual PA work
Some of these will require updating my skills, some will mean a bit of work to the house (new ensuite and moving around a few rooms) some of these I could start working on before I get to Austria.
With this in mind I am planning to do a mind map of everything that I need to be putting in place over the coming months.
Just listened to Danny Baker on Desert Island Discs today - what a colourful character he is and definitely some things to take away from his philosophy on life.
Off to ponder if a new diary is the way to go and if so what name shall I give it.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Hi Cheri
Glad the birthday went well, and Mr C found all the clues.
How about themed holistic weekends as your new business? B&B plus aromatherapy/reflexology/philosopy, with the bonus of free mid-weeks for you & Mr C. People pay a premium for that type of weekend (there are still cash-rich/time-poor people around).
Also, how about offering pet-friendly B&B and charge extra to pet-sit whilst guests go off and explore, or go off for an evening meal? I love to take my Westie on holibobs, but most places (understandably) don't want you to leave them home alone which can be tricky if the places you want to visit won't allow dogs in.

Mr C's birthday surprises sound inspired and great fun. And your new lifestyle sounds very exciting - even the planning for it will be exciting. Even the thinking about planning for it will be exciting. I love new beginnings, even other people's. Great idea from satchmo1, too. Good luck."Green pastures are before me,

I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Ooo Satchmo........ great ideas there. I couldn't agree more about the petsitting when on holiday. I have often said that it would be wonderful for somebody to look after my dogs whilst I did a daytrip to somewhere that doesn't allow dogs in as I refuse to leave a dog in a car. I did once have an idea for a business and that was to set up franchise doggy creche facilities at all the major attractions in Britain. We will of course be a pet friendly B&B because I love all animals. The good thing about Austria too is that dogs are positively welcomed as part of the family. They are allowed into attractions and restaurants. They even have a tariff included on things like the ski lifts and gondolas would you believe. The only place that they "prefer" them not to accompany you is supermarkets.
Love the idea of the specialist weekends and think that is the kind of thing I am aiming to do long term. I want to offer luxury holidays at affordable prices. Hmmm philosophy - I love, but not the right person to deliver that kind of thing I think maybe I could book FW if I could afford her
Wordsmith - how right you are. I love to plan things and often find great pleasure in the planning. As bourne out by my birthday planning. For me the best part of Christmas is the planning and organising. Maybe it is the control freak in me coming out. I also love your quotes in the signature by the way.
That reminds me I have been a bit lax with my quotes lately. Must rectify that. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Glad Mr C's birthday went well, sounds like a lovely time was had.
Plans for Austria are sounding really positive, and the idea of a pet friendly service will really suit you.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
