  • my uncle was quite clever about school choir - he hated singing and the thought of being in the choir, which was compulsory. So he deliberately sang really, really badly, so bad he was asked to leave :rotfl:

cherisong, forgot to say I watched the end of the Stravinksy Rite of Spring prom from the other night (Saturday??) and thought of you and your prom-going. I studied it for my A-Level music and it was simply amazing how the conductor did it all from memory. My dad hates it but me and my mum love it - although as she is a bassoonist she hates the very first few bars as it is so hard (very high) for her to play :D

I love the Rite of Spring but admit it took me a while to appreciate it. I have no idea of scale of difficulty with regards to playing as I cannot play an instrument. Last year I went to Cadogen Hall for an afternoon prom where Rite of Spring was played on two pianos, it was stunning. Must go back over my programme to see who played.

Looks like I wont make it to the proms this year :( still at least I can listen on radio 3 and see some on BBC 4 iplayer. Better than nothing I suppose. Really disappointed to not be able to go to the Simon Bolivar performance of Mahler 2 on 5th August.

Ahem, I just applied for a job in Austria. Same pay as I am on now, less hours, near to where my house is. Dont expect I will get an interview as I have no experience in that particular industry. My skills however match the job description perfectly so here is to keeping my fingers crossed that the move to Austria may happen quicker than I expect.

:T for applying despite it not being your industry. Lots of people would have been too scared and just tthought there's no point. Whatever will happen next, will happen next and regardless, it'll help you in your move because doubtless you'll learn something new.

Found your blogs and am just heading over that way now. I've not started a blog myself, but I am thinking about it! Thought it might be a way of capturing the VSO stuff. However, I am not allowed to start new things until some old things are finished!!!! The course should be finished mid September; the walking marathon 11th September and the conference in October! So I might begin my ramblings mid September!

Totally agree with all of that Nic. Definitely put it onto your future plans list. Until then concentrate on what you have on the go.

Go for it, Cheri! You will never know if it was meant to be unless you try. If you don't apply, you will never know.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
