  • Don't be afraid to ask for what you want, they didn't let you have redundancy when you wanted it.

Thanks Me. I can see now that, had they given me redundancy it would be unlikely that I would have found the house but I still would have loved to finish. Mind you I would never have met Mr and Mrs and the Juniors then would I ?

    Definite happy hats on.

Off to Cardiff tomorrow so on the silly oclock train (5.20am). Think I will be asleep by the time I get to my review and just end up nodding through it all.

Good on you cheri for planning to ask your boss :T :T I reckon you will find everyone gets used to you not working that evening pretty quickly. I used to work 2 days a week at this job, and was fairly flexible on which days, but some things were utterly immovable - and I would never budge on. People get used to it - the more you give, the more they take... :) So go for it! You'll be happier, and far more likely to stick in your job for longer - that's the way I look at it when I take half an hour off to amble round the lake at lunchtime anyway! :T

Very true, what Cheery said so concisely - the more you give, the more they take. Boundaries are absolutely crucial.

Hope today went well for you, its a good idea to go into a review with a plan. My previous employer, both parties had to fill the review form in beforehand, and pass it over, so there were no surprises.

Hope it went well Cheri and you got the outcome you were wanting. It comes down to "Working to Live" not "Living to work" doesn't it.

Thanks Ladies, got back home after 10 last night so very tired. Well the review was moved to yesterday. Last two days were "strange" as I had so many meetings to attend. Things in the office are rather manic and the atmosphere is erm............. uncomfortable is probably the best word. Just lately everything and I mean everything has been priority so I have felt rather like a headless chicken. I always go into a review with a list of things to discuss (what is going well, what needs working on, what is bothering me, what I am enjoying) and this time was no exception. The problem was I only got through two things on the list as they were huge and so there was no time to discuss the ringfencing of days and times yet. However I have a plan. I have booked some holidays and after the holidays I hope to know days and times of the courses that I want to do. This are crucial to my future plans and so there will be no budging of them. I might even have to go down the route of asking for compressed hours so that I can absolutely say I wont be working at certain times.

Anyway, onto other things. I spend at least 20 minutes on a Saturday morning working on my happiness. Sounds daft but recently I have lost the way a bit so I realise that I need my va va voom, vooming up rather a lot. And so this morning my 20 minutes was spent watching a TED talk. This was an eye opener for me, and links exactly with what I am currently struggling with. If you are interested here is a link to the talk.

it is raining and howling gales here today (what happened to summer?) so I guess my plan for today will have to be amended. I was intending to go along to the local music festival at the castle to take some photos. It is free but it is also on a hill right next to the sea at the part of the front where the wind is relentless so I really dont fancy it. Hmmm maybe my office will get a clear out and my sparkly gel pens might get a work out
