Had a nice long walk yesterday. Came back and thought that it was just too nice a day to do housework and decluttering - procrastination and diversion tactics can be useful sometimes. So instead I made crumpets and muffins. I bathed Moo, showered Coco and got my sewing machine out. Turned into a fairly pottering kind of day in the end. Unfortunately it still leaves me with tons to do before Mr C returns from skiing. I dont want him to think I am lazy - but to be fair he tends not to be mithered by things like that.
Have to work this week and a little browse at this weeks calendar has reminded me that I have to go to Colwyn Bay on Friday. It will be only the second time I have driven since the accident. I will be driving part of the route that I had the accident and I will be spending a total of 5 hours driving in the day. Worst thing is it is Friday and I am bound to end up in the traffic heading to the Llyn Peninsula for the weekend on the way back out. Hmmm......... must do some meditations this week to get ready for that. I am the only person available for the sessions so I cant even not go!

Thanks Me. It isnt that I am worried about the actual driving it is more that I am not sure how my shoulder and knee are going to hold up to that amount of driving given that I have only driven twice for a very short journey. I will be fine with the actual driving. I know that it wasnt my fault as there have been a couple more accidents in the exact same spot since then. I seem to have come off better than most people. I am also not relishing being stuck in traffic through Betwys y Coed and not being able to get out and visit. It is one of my favourite places.
I have also been booked today for a visit to Cardigan on Wednesday which is only about an hour each way so that should ease me in nicely. I love Cardigan so I am going to have a little mooch too.

I am up to 4 NSD days, not paid until 31st but a check of my bank account today shows a healthy balance that should see me through. Cupboards are half full so I will be doing a storecupboard challenge this week.
Tonight I am making a mushroom risotto for tea. One of my favourites. The mushrooms are a bit  and if Mr C was here he would have thrown them away but I think they are edible so I am going to give it a go.

Thank you, you lovely, lovely lady. I am think I ranted a bit more than I intended to there. I was thinking more about the long day, stuck in traffic etc than worrying about the driving. Who knows I may just panic on the day but I dont think I will (hopefully) time will tell.

I am glad that the blog inspired you. I was actually inspired by your thread as it the discussion reminded me of how much I love music of all kinds. Tendency has been to stick to a lot of classical music lately and that nudged me along a bit to look up things on you tube. I am now hooked.

In other exciting news I have come across a Citreon berlingo for sale in a garage very close to my old home town to which Mr C is returning to from the Alps on Sunday. I have a cunning plan. I am going to ring the garage tomorrow to see if they are happy to have an RAC inspection done on it. Once that is done I am going to try a haggle over the phone (do you think that might work?) and if he is up for a lower offer I will send Mr C on Monday to test drive it and if he thinks all is A OK then I will ask him to bring it back on Tuesday. We can then travel back up North the following weekend (I have an invite to a twoof up with the lady who looked after Moo on the way) stay overnight, visit friends and family who I havent seen in a while and he can bring his car back down.
Hmm will that work I wonder. Off to do some research on values etc. Back in while to ask your opinions.

  • That sounds like a workable plan and if they refuse the RAC check then you know to walk away immediately.

I wasn't thinking about the physical side of the drive, :o. As you have hire car for these trips can you get an automatic which will be much easier on you generally? Plus some uplifting music so those all around will be wondering what you are singing along to :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.

Would it not be more sensible to visit Colwyn Bay on Friday and then take a very roundabout detour to visit the car in person on your way home. That way if you really like it you could arrange the RAC inspection and pay a deposit on the basis of that and then figure out how to get it home.

I had never thought of an automatic! I am a car snob though and I always turn my nose up at automatics hehe.

Moo the thought crossed my mind but they monitor my mileage and I am not allowed to use the cars for personal use unless it is stopping off on the way somewhere for example if I fancied stopping off and doing a bit of shopping in a Mr Ts en route that is acceptable. Plus the detour is quite considerable as the car is in Warrington!!! Good idea though.

Ok I have done some research.

The Berlingo that I have seen is a 2002 with only 54000 miles on the clock and one lady owner. It is in a garage that I know of and I know somebody who has bought a car from there. I came across it on Autotrader. They are asking £3400 for it. A check on various sites is pricing this at low price of £4098 mid £4821 and highest at £4996 as a national average. So that seems to be a good price that he is asking. Not sure if there would be room for negotiation on this. Hmmm.
Also the reviews I have read suggest that the 1.9 diesel is noisy. Using the windscreen washers can blow the dashboard fuse but more worryingly that the rear suspension needs work from 50K. Given that I will be having a 10 stone dog in the back I am wondering if this would be the right kind of car.
He does also have a volkswagon Touran 2003 with 67000 miles on the clock at £5400 - now I am getting ridiculous arent I :)
