Thanks BOB - yes the only reason that I am considering a berlingo is because of Moo and I cant get my longed for landrover for him. My other dream car a fiat 500 is a ridiculous idea. Glad you liked Moo's musings - he has been sulking too this week so no updates. Need to help him save his pics of him in his new coat and then he is ready to go again.
ok I have officially lost the plot

Another NSD here. Yay that will make up for paying for tea in Morrisons cafe last night. In my defence I had a £5 voucher gained from the petrol card thing. Ok, so I had to add £3.50 and I guess that I should also own up to the House Beautiful Magazine at £3.70

So Mr C is now in Paris awaiting his connection to the overnight to Munich and I am feeling rather jealous. Oh to be able to just pop off somewhere and not think about money. He is very good at that kind of thing. My attempts at training him work in fits and starts and he does now, at least, look at the prices of things in the supermarket before piling the trolley up.

Still no progress on the car. Friends were unavailable to pop along to Swinton for me to look at the car so I guess I might have to employ idea 2 which is hope that it is still there when Mr C comes back and send him to look at it. In the meantime it is over my budget. I have realised that I am not going to really get anything for £1000 that is reliable around here. So must work out how to conjure up another couple of thousand. I have a CC with nothing on. I am too afraid to apply for a loan in case I am turned down. Although I do have a very good credit record having never missed any payments but the way things are these days you are just never sure.

Just call me "me" :D. I lurve a bit of bling .

Another car you may pick up cheap due to newer models coming out are the Chevrolet Lacetti (sp) estate model. Dad has one, has all mod cons, no frills etc and they have 2 big dogs that fit in the boot quite happily.

Also, worth checking with garages what they have just got in part ex and need to shift quick.

Ooo I have never heard of that - will rush off and google it now. Although have to admit to not being a massive fan of american style cars. I have been speaking to the garages locally to find out what they have coming in. I am finding that due to my location they are all taking the Michael and wanting absolutely ridiculous prices and are not willing/have no need to drop them as most of the car buying audience around here have the attitude of always buying local irrespective of costs which is fair does but not when you are on a very strict budget

  • Its not a bad looking car, Dad got it from a local garage where everybody seems to go - so when it was one make thats all you saw, now they are another make, thats all you see now IYSWIM.

If your credit score is OK sometimes they say it is better to take out a new bit to keep it up but its great if you have a 0% deal, some garages dont accept credit cards though. Might need a bit of shuffling around to get it in the right place which may incur charges

Are you only looking at garages Cheri? Our Berlingo was £1000 (although about 144000 miles I think) - we got it through Ebay :D Might be a few private sales within reach? Remember to look for dodgy stuff, like people pretending they're private but actually being a dealer (google their phone number usually finds them out!), only having owned it for a month or two (and coming up with some wildly implausible story about why they now don't need it any more) etc - of course might be genuine, but we tried to avoid them :D

We bought ours from a pregnant methodist minister :D

Thanks ME - yes I was also thinking about the moving and shuffling. I am becoming quite adept at that. SWYM about the make of cars too. Funny how that works.

Cheery, I am looking at anything and everything. I would prefer to buy something for around the £1000 mark because then I wont have to borrow etc as I have that money. There just seems to be so few around this neck of the woods for sale unless it is with a dealer. I have discovered Autocheck too so I am up for checking the vehicle out re mileage, insurance write off etc. Also will consider an RAC check on things. I am a natuarally nosey person so I can usually catch out if people are telling porkies - I call it my sixth sense and I am usually right.
Will keep looking and I might be as lucky as you

Not entirely sure we were lucky, looked at about 6 million before we found ours, and you might remember I was thoroughly sick of the entire thing :rotfl: and we've actually spent £600 on it since we bought it! So you might want to be a little more lucky than me :D

Hmm, perhaps my talking myself into spending more is an omen then!
