Not a fan of the Kipling bags really - they all seem a bit pricey for what they are, to me. I see something that looks similar on the market without the monkey thing for £5 and think "yep, that'll do!" Still it wouldn't do if we were all the same would it, and others not liking Radley/Tula leaves more for me!
One thing that having a better bag (or several!() has brought home to me is how much they do stay looking better, for longer. That actually surprised me.
I've started actually wearing more makeup over the past year or so, since I joined the No More Toiletries challenge and actually took stock of what I had! I always used to do my makeup carefully each day but looking back as each year passed with my former horrible employers I lost my self respect and confidence a little more - and this translated into (eventually) ending up with just mascara & lip gloss. For "formal" working days when I am with clients I make the effort with foundation & loose powder, eye makeup (including liner which, it is true, the more you practise with, the better you get!) and lip gloss/tinted balm. Today I've gone down the tinted moisturiser route with just a dash of pale pink eyeshadow and mascara. I'll slick on some tinted lip balm when I head out in a while. (Currently drinking a cup of tea v-e-r-y slowly in the hope that the rain will stop!) Doing Avon has helped - in that I feel if I'm going out I may bump into customers and it's not a very good advert for my business if I'm looking as rough as a badgers proverbial at the time, is it! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Wow. I'm sort of scared now. I look a lot older when I use makeup, thats the truth - well, I look my age, I suppose. Which I'm not a fan of....2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Gill, I am a lot like you with regards to kicking against the popular stuff. Used to say I didnt like Radley and thought it was a fad (until people started buying them for me). Hence I have never read a Harry Potter book (scuttles off quickly before I get lamped)
Off to a meeting now, just packing my lovely Radley briefcase bag. No fancy makeup but I am Video conferencing so I have got foundation, mascara and my favourite lipgloss on. Better still I am going to put my heels on. Oh how decadent can life be?
By the way KC thanks for the tip, I had worked it out that it wouldnt be worth it but needed a bit of reassurance. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. I have read a HP book, in fact most of them, but I found them for my son, before they were the 'in' thing, as the first one was recommended to me by an assistant in Waterstones. I was looking for a book that would be a challenge to him to read, as there was little in the market, and adult books had, well, *adult* content.
Cheri - the thought of video conferencing petrifies me! I've even put a sticker over the little camera thing on the laptop in case it switches on when I'm chatting to someone.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Another vote for hating stuff that is hyped here too. My automatic reaction is to think ooh I won't like it, but getting older I am more able to moderate my reaction a little to see if I am missing out on anything good
cheri, I think the stoozing thing now is to use a 0% purchase card, and then save the money you are spending, because you have spent it on the credit card, if that makes sense? As above, the cash transfer fees are too high now to make the return back and cover your costs. So at the end of say 6 months, you have £xxx balance on your credit card (less minimum payments), and a matching balance in your savings accounr, plus a little interest. Hope that sounds right!0 -
I love punishment too but I don't go round telling everyone about it

Thanks, I reported it too and Spammed it........... got a funny post from a newbie a few weeks ago. Some very sad people around I say.
Thanks Lion, yes that does make sense. I guess they have cottoned onto what people were up to. I still think all this finance shenaningans needs a degree of thinking about when trying to find all the loopholes etc. I find some of the ideas for controlling money ludicrously complicated. I just read something on Hypnos post about saving money in a pot and when you see a bargain you buy it then pay take the money out of the pot and pay back the difference in the amount saved. X by a banana add a pickled onion and cabbage is your uncle. Makes my hair stand on end. Dont humans have some funny logic sometimes.
Mine is to set the alarm clock 10 minutes earlier than I want to get up, then set the clock 20 minutes fast. That way I get an extra half hour in bed :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Well in my head I do, in theory the clock wakes me up half an hour earlier than I really need to wake up. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Excellent, the whole lot of it, especially Cheery replying to the spam :D
LHG, I didn't realise that was called stoozing too, sorry about that - yes, what you've described makes loads of sense - if you can do that, Cheri, then go for it. Possibly in your spare half hour :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0
