Oh no hijack away, loving this talk. That reminds me Nic did you ever get that gorgeous blue top?

I know exactly what you mean about quality. I have always tried to buy decent stuff because it lasts longer, washes nicer and makes me feel good. The problem is that I then overwear them and start to get really fed up again but forget to buy new stuff. Love the sound of the handbag. I was never really a handbag person but one day I saw the most gorgeous handbag in TK Maxx and though s*d it and put it onto my credit card. Best £30 (reduced from £100) I ever spent on my credit card. I get loads of compliments about it, always take it on an overnight stay to cardiff because I can fit all kinds into it and it is still going strong.

Thanks! I was thinking of the bag I bought to go to the wedding in April - its pink leather, with handles and a shoulder strap, and it can actually take a modern size laptop! Just the thing for becoming a businesswoman :)

I saw the photo it is very girly whilst also being grown up if you see what I mean. I am now a fan of big bags. Or as my nephew called it a shopping bag with knobs on. I do love his wit.

My fave bags at the moment are all cross body types. They feel more secure and have the added bonus of leaving your hands free !

I know what you mean Me. I never wear make-up usually. It makes me feel itchy and gunky mostly! But today we were getting our ID card photos done. Thought I'd best make an effort since it'll be emblazoned on my ID card for quite some time! So had just a wee bit of mineral foundation, some eye-liner and shadow and clear mascara on.

You have no idea the amount of people that said "There's something different about you. You look nice."

There's a back-handed compliment if ever I heard one! :rotfl:

Do you know, this took me right back to school, the very first day I wore any make up. I was about 14 (ish), and it was only a kind of tinted moisturiser. My 'friend' asked if I was wearing make up - she'd asked because 'your face looks less dirty'

I've always remembered that and very rarely go out without some kind of tinted moisturiser on at least :o

On the other hand, I NEVER wear very noticeable makeup - partly because I've always been so scared someone will say 'I don't know why you bothered it's not helping' :o (same reason I NEVER put on make up in public toilets - just in case someone says 'I don't know why you're bothering it won't make a difference...')

And there you all were thinking I was bohemian and cool :p

Awww Daffs I can't IMAGINE why you would think anyone would say that - more likely they'd ask why you were using it as you didn't need it I would think!

Me have you tried the new Clinique Moisture Surge tinted Moisturiser? It's lovely stuff! MUCH nice than the Moisture Sheer Tint it replaced. I've cut back on expenditure on that sort of stuff generally but I will continue to buy (or request as gifts) my Clinique powder and that tinted moisturiser as both are by far the best product of their type I have found.

Cheri I love my good bags - I have several Radleys (all bar one bought from the discount/outlet place) and they are the most fantastic bags - strokeably soft and very hard wearing too. My favourite at the moment though is a slouchy grey Avon one which I paid about £7.50 for including about 6 products which went as freebies for customers! (which made it an "expense" for tax purposes too!)

If I can drop the dress size I am after I may well return to buying jeans from Next again - their Petite ones are slightly longer than most places Petite ranges and fit me brilliantly. I have an extremely knackered old pair that I drag out each year for the beer festival as they are so comfy - they must be about 10 years old at least though. Otherwise at the moment, nice as the idea of buying quality is, it will have to wait!

Cheery - how very rude. I guess the only excuse is that at 14 very few people have learned how to think before opening our mouth. As for being too scared to wear it in case people say why bother, that is quite an insight into one of your "headtapes"....... ie that early experience has now set in your mind a fear for doing something which may, or may not, be quite a nice thing to do. You will only know if you try. BUT if you dont like wearing make up then go with the flow. I think you are very bohemian and to be honest the wearing of make up would seem to go against my idea of bohemian.

Ssshhh - I have a radley laptop/briefcase which was bought for me by MR C when I got my current job I know what you mean about being very soft. I also have a foldy up into a pouch bag made of recycled plastic bottles by Radley and a coin purse both bought for me by my previous colleagues when I left and I have a passport cover - bought for me by MR C when I treated him to a trip to Chicago (long story - changed my mind about spending 3 months in Mexico - had ticket but couldnt cancel it so converted it to 2 to Chicago).

Why is it when you think that you are on an even keel another very big, unexpected bill hits.

I am sorry to report that my completely cleared barclaycard now has a £600 payment on it PAH! However I have also just had a 0% offer with virgin til July 2012. Now I am working out if it is worth balance transferring £600 at 5% fee (ie £30) or attempting to pay it off alongside my current 0% card. Decisions I have never had to make before so needs a bit of thinking on and working out. Suffice to say there is no way in the next 3 months at least that I will have any cash to pay this off. Things may ease after that.
