NL, you always bring a smile to my face. My Nan used to say "over the hill" We lived in High Hill Road until I was 3. I have some pictures in the garden there. I really should make a trip there one day. That festival sounds like so much fun. I love the idea of wrapping trees and cars too. Really quirky. My uncle lives over that way again now. I am not quite sure where as I havent seen him for a while. Not NM but somewhere nearby.

I am working my way out of CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome), so when I am sorted, you are welcome anytime (even for the festival of patchwork cars and knitted love hearts). My house is probably Moo friendly...
And actually, not only do I live over the hill but over the border as well. I sneak in under the barbed wire, each week for patchwork class

HA!, so are you classed as Cheshire? very posh. I know that chaos issue, then I read the Purple lady poem. put thing into perspective. Me and Moo might enjoy a little trip. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. I just love the idea of the rest of the world wondering what we are up to! I would like to adopt it as my mantra. :T:T:TBut how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
As it is the end of April I thought that it would be a good time to review my goals for the year (posted at the beginning). Hmmm, on reflection I haven't done too brilliantly with them but in my defence a few things have come in from left field.
Health
- take more exercise (as well as the walks with Moo) done.
- eat proper meals and stop making do with snacks done
- see hobbies for mental health and sanity still working on this
Home
- prepare flat for rental - by early February - this will free up over £500 per month Not done due to ongoing project with Austria - once that is sorted the flat will be sorted
- place flat with a lettings agency - Mid February - see above
- set up an account specifically for the income from the flat to convert to mortgage payments - will ensure that all bills will go directly from that account and I will know that it is paying off the mortgage and also the part of the credit cards that formed part of the deposit account set up and money going in there specifically to cover flat costs - helps me to keep sight of what everything is costing.
- declutter OH house and make it feel like my home - need to get Mr C on board with this. It may help to generate some income if I can get him onto ebay Ongoing project. So far I have sold a lot of my excess on ebay. OH says he has nothing to sell and isnt up for it as yet. He does get excited when I have made a lot on one item. Proceeds have gone into flat account so far.
- paint and decorate OH house - will help me to feel more at home, help to rent or sell the house when the time is right Not done as not decluttered enough yet
- finish the garden - as above but will also help to keep me sane Not even started!!! Front garden done though and looks nice
Relationships
- Make Saturday nights date nights with OH. This will increase our quality time together - want to be creative with this one. Think up romantic/fun but inexpensive things to do. - Had lots of fun with this one and will try to keep it going
- Make regular phone calls to brothers and sisters - at least once per month - links to my health and sanity. Not done monthly but much more often
- Make sure that I keep in touch with old friends - links to health and sanity Have started a 52 letters in 52 weeks project. This forms part of that
- Make some new friends in the area that I have moved to - links to health and sanity - still no progress on this one
Career
- Arrange some jobshadowing with external organisations to increase PR knowledge - work has been too hectic so far. Need to plot this in for second half of the year
- Make more contacts to increase my networking doing well with this one.
- start enjoying it again! I have my moments. I now recognise that my moments are when I am out and about meeting people.
Travel and Entertainment
- Set a budget to ensure that I have 2 small trips and one longer trip per year - one small trip already done - not likely to afford a bigger trip but the Austria project will sort this one out.
- Set a budget to ensure that I can still go to the Proms - no budget sorted yet - must do this month as proms start in July
- Arrange at least one outing per month to the theatre or other
Hobbies
- join the local travelling library and start taking out more books - library has not been out and about yet.
- try one new recipe per week doing this one and loving it.
- continue with shabby chic furniture renovations not done any renovations but have sold two items that I shabbied last year. Really pleased with that. When summer officially here and garden sorted I can get outside painting again.
- take a photography course. As always work interfered with the start of a photography course I had planned. I am now doing an online digital photography course
- start to use the sewing machine more made a couple of bags and cushions as a start.
.
Money
- start doing the survey sites again - earned a fair bit from this last year decided to abandon them as they were driving me nuts and not earning that much from them
- do money neutral special occasions - any extra money goes into pig for birthdays - not money neutral but a start.
- make some presents - cushions for friends
- menu planningoops, falling down on this one.
Challenges
January
research and buy a new car As Mr C stopped working I put this on hold. Money still in an account that I pretend that I dont have and add a bit to now and then with a view to sorting it out at some point in the future but no set plans. Using Mr C's at the moment.
Well, still lots to do but it was a list of objectives for the year. What I need to do now is have a look at some for the month and start setting monthly ones again. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Wow cheri, you've done really well with those goals! :T :T It's inevitable that you'll have to revise some of them - what we want at the beginning of the year doesn't always equal what we want in the middle! But you've achieved lots, more than is on your list, and you can start to see where you need to focus a bit more attention - how fabulous! :T :T0

Thanks Cheery
"The month of May was come, when every lusty heart beginneth to blossom, and to bring forth fruit; for like as herbs and trees bring forth fruit and flourish in May, in likewise every lusty heart that is in any manner a lover, springeth and flourisheth in lusty deeds. For it giveth unto all lovers courage, that lusty month of May."

Happy May!
I've been away working so not been on here. You say you haven't achieved much but you have, read back over you list, you have moved forward, made a start, made some decisions such as sod the surveys - I've had no time for them either although they were looking important at the start of the year.
I hope you had a lovely weekend and sorted whatever the issue was without MrC "going off on one". Taking Moo off over the hill sounds lovely.
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Thanks Me. Yes I think that I have achieved more than I though that I had. The issue isn't immediately sorted and will take some time. As for Mr C "going off on one" it is more that he goes into manic, panic mode than going off on one. I find it very hard to deal with it and I make things worse by misunderstanding what he is saying which frustrates him which becomes a circle of tooing and froing and I end up all het up. I handled things pretty well for me as I have worked out that I need to put myself in a certain frame of mind before broaching any "sticky" issues. He sees them as problems even if they are not and just need dealing with.
Had a lovely weekend away at my friends back fully relaxed with a new outlook. Decided that I will limit my time on the forum as I get carried away. Just having a coffee break so thought that I would post on my diary. I will catch up with everyone later. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar.
