Thanks Cheery. Writing on here is spurring me on with little breaks in between. I did, indeed, watch Escape to the Country but the couple really irritated me. Whilst watching that I sat on the floor and sorted through two boxes from the bedroom. I liberated
- 1 china tea set (6 cups, 6 saucers and 6 cake plates) chintzy and lovely
- 1 white tea set - very plain 4 cups and saucers
- 1 juicer that I had lost - can now start juicing again.
- 1 blender - Hmm we now have 2
- 1 steamer - hmm I bought a new one because I couldnt find it.
- 2 sponge cake tins
- 1 muffin tin
- 1 roasting tin
- 1 loaf tin
- 1 cocktail shaker - YIPEEE
- 1 elephant ornament - bought for me by my best friend the year that she unfortunately made the journey to the disco in the sky (age 19) Very sentimental and now on the windowsill!
All have been washed, dried and put away in respective cupboards in the kitchen - boxes broken up and in the recycling. Only another 5 of my own boxes to go but I know that they are full of books and photos.
However there are about 10 of Mr C's which I do believe are full of newspaper articles, journals, magazines and other such things that he thinks might come in useful t read again one day. So it is up to him to sort them out. Not sure it will happen anytime soon.
Quite enjoying myself but I do think that I may stop soon as I am flagging and losing energy. Time for a cuppa and then to take Moo out for a stroll up the hill I think. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Have been pondering some things written over on FW's thread and her blog has made me examine a few things too. Mostly my relationship to money which I always believed to be healthy but I am now realising that it might not be so. Lots to think about there. I am, after all, not in a lot of debt compared to some people on this board and what I do have is mostly mortgage. I will use her spreadsheet to work out my actual worth. Listing all assets and debts etc. At my first attempt I was quite shocked about how much assets I do have. That was quite an eye opener.
Plans for today have changed. As I was so busy yesterday my plan today was to pack my backpack and take a (very) long walk up the mountain road to the lakes. I have lived here for 2 years and only ever driven past them. Having poured over the local OS maps I thought that if the weather was nice it would be a nice day for me and Moo (about 16 miles round trip) and I could use the camera. However it is pouring with rain and looks set for the day so I will do a lot more shredding and tidying instead.

Pity about the weather, the walk sounded super. But well done on the house reorg etc..0

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs

"The month of May was come, when every lusty heart beginneth to blossom, and to bring forth fruit; for like as herbs and trees bring forth fruit and flourish in May, in likewise every lusty heart that is in any manner a lover, springeth and flourisheth in lusty deeds. For it giveth unto all lovers courage, that lusty month of May."
- Sir Thomas Malory, Le Morte d'Arthur

And so we reach the half way point of May with no major purchases required. Bills account is completely depleted which caused me an :eek: moment for a few minutes until I realised that I have all my annual bills now accounted for. Firewalker may be pleased to know that the lightbulb went on when I started to sulk at the balance and remembered her discussion about our relationships with money. I think that I am definitely a hoarder where money concerned.

And buds and garlands gay,
For I'm to be Queen o' the May, mother,
I'm to be Queen o' the May.'

Cheri, I am very pleased - what is more you have done the first step towards changing this relationship to a one where you and money are equal partners. Working title for this one is 'mutual respect'.
