No, not the tax and NI thing - back to that later.
So, changed gas and elec supplier, recieved £24.32 credit from our old elec supplier - YAY and then last night they sent the final bill for the gas of £50.48!
I suppose the best way of looking at it is that I have £24.32 to put towards it! :jstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Morning All!
Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend?
So - I paid off my old gas bill yesterday, which after the elec refund only cost me £26.16:D. Got home last night to a letter from EDF confirming the DD date and the amount. A total of £64.61 for both!! What a result and nothing to pay until next month! I am liking this!
Right, off to play with my spreadsheet.... 'That Friday feeling' arrived about lunchtime (yesterday!), so this is a perfect way to put off doing some work for a while!

Ok folkes - I need to run an idea past you (it's a bit of a hare-brianed one!)
So, I am still using the OD on the account that we use to pay all the house related bills, rent etc. I reckon that in any given week I can 'spare' some cash to transfer into this OD to temporarily reduce its balance and therefore the amount of interest it is acruing. But I can't leave the money there, I will need to get it back to my current account.
So, my question is, if I can transfer say £100 each week in and then out of my account, maybe so it's in there for 2 days reducing the balance - is it worth all the trouble for saving a few pennies in interest? The devout DFW part of me says "well it costs nothing but time to do it!" but then the other part of me says "it's really not worth the time it will take!"
All thoughts gladly welcome!!!!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Ummm well it could be saving maybe 3p a day which I know adds up etc etc. But I think you may become unstuck if you forget a transfer or can not get near a pc oneday, and then you will fret etc
I think this will mean you spend your life managing your finances to such a point you may not have time just to live your life..... if you know what I mean.

Oh OBNW - you are soooo wise (or is that drunken haze around you abscuring my perception? lol)
I think, that for the sake of maybe a 6p per week saving in interest, I will pass on moving money around un-necessarily! I have a spreadsheet for this account too (strange that!!) and it is on course to clear itself from the OD this year. Having 2 months council tax free helps, as does the cashback of £80 for changing electricity / gas supplier, as well as the reduction in the month gas and electricity DD. So, I think I will save myself the potential stress and just let it take its own time! (no charges just interest per month, was £10 something this month, but will reduce month on month as the balance comes up!)
Right, that is enough of my ramblings for now. I am in work tomorrow, so I may well be back then. If not, and I survive the hen-do I am attending tomorrow night, then I will be back bright and breezey on Monday!
Have a great weekend all! Nats xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Good Monday morning everyone!!!!
Well, here I am - back at work again! Sometimes, especially when I work a Saturday, it really does feel like I never leave the place!!
So, I have got my new tax code which kicks in in April. By running it through the calculator that OBNW provided the link for http://www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php it looks like I should be about £6 a week better off! WHOOPEEEE! But, every little does help!!!
So, I went out on Sat and drank for the first time since NYE! Bleugh - was hammered on 4 glasses of wine and went home at half eleven.... didn't go out til 8!! Oops. Back on the no drinking now until this Sat when we have the wedding. Will have to take it really easy if I don't want to end up in the same state as Sat!
Part of me is not liking being financially organised. It really limits the time I can spend updating my spreadsheets. Part of me wants to transfer money around just so I have to update my spreadsheets!!! Too much effort though - I may just have to create a new spreadsheet for something else!!!
Have a good Monday all - catch you all later! xstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
