Hi SSS
Great totals and achievements there well done! Your spending diary looks good- I definitely fritter away loads each month on not sure what,......maybe time to stick it all on c/card so I can work it out!!
Will have a read back of your diary for some inspiration!!0 -
Thanks y'all! I know I could have done better, but as this is my first year at this I'm pretty happy overall with how I've done. Marathon and not a sprint etc etc. Besides, if I got it perfect in one go then what would I have to aim for this year?Mini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0

Whew, now I've got to go tidy the kitchen (which is a bit pointless really as I'm currently living in an industrial site and dust gets everywhere). I spent most of today putting together a new CV and the house tidying and floor work and sanding got a bit behind. Still a lot to be done but I'm getting there!
I'll post a better update tomorrow and try to fix my signature with the relevant information and also post my new set of goals for the next 12 months of the mortgage crusade.
Night all!Mini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0 -
Well that's a bit of a life coincidence; train works have run late this morning so trains from 4.30 onwards haven't been running. I was due to take the 5.43 so when I arrieved at the train station and saw the platform rather fuller than usual and checked my phone and saw the problem I was sure I wouldn't be able to get a seat if I even managed to squeeze on. However when the train eventually turned up the end carriage was nearly empty. I sat down opposite a lady that I eventually recognised as my old work colleague, the pathological liar! Well!
She didn't seem very keen to speak to me now, wonder why? :-). Last I heard (from another work mate who also ran into her by accident) she was working in project management for JPMorgan or something like that. Despite having no previous experience... Oh man, we all heaved a sigh of relief once she had finally upsticks and left. I'm sure my poor boss still has nightmares!Mini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0 -
Hi all, this is a little update to what I’ve been doing in my time away. Things are a little busy so I don’t have much time to spend online – I have a list longer than my arm of things ‘that must be done’ so I’m having to do shorter updates as and when rather than a big catch up. But I will get there eventually.
The most dramatic change is my little flat is currently a building site. All the walls have been sanded and re-plastered where it needed it which was a lot of places as the previous decorating technique was ‘whack on a lot of filler and then paint right over it’. The walls were indescribable. The same approach was taken to the skirting board which in the living room were just a lumpy mass. So those had to be chiselled right off and redone. The skanky carpet has been removed and we found that some sort of wood underneath had been stapled into the floors along with the underlay. So those had to be pulled out by hand or nailed in if I couldn’t pull them out. Gah, what a job that was. Everything else has been sanded as well, doors, skirting boards, windows etc. Right now the walls are totally prepped and we are starting on the floors. The living room has had its first sand and it looks marvellous! (I need to work out how to post photos) I’ve ordered some hemp so for inserting between the cracks for draught proofing (the house is over 100 years old so the wood has warped and shifted in lots of places) but it hasn’t arrived yet – hope it will very soon) and once that’s done then the painting can finally start!
To say I’m looking forward to it is an understatement! I’ve been sleeping on plastic sheeting that I drag my mattress to every day and then drag it back to the bathroom at night. Dust is everywhere – the worst was when the walls were being sanded, the fine plaster dust would cake my hair (even conditioning it every day still had it feeling awful) and when I woke up in the morning and had my first drink of water I could taste it in my mouth!
BUT the pain will all be worth it! As soon as I have my place done and I can glory in the beauty of my glowing floors and wonderful d!cor. Well, on the walls anyway. I have no furniture at all. I had better get my !!!! in gear actually and see about curtains – I’ve ripped them all down and I’ll definitely need ‘em soon. God, winter with no curtains! Arrrrgh!!!!
I’ll just pop off and do that now maybe… Back later for more updatesMini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0 -
I am trying to get fully up to date with this diary but my day currently consists of:
5am Wake up
5.30am Leave for Train Station
6.30 am Start work
6.30am – 12 pm Work frantically on a load of calls and try to train new staff
12pm – 1pm Sprint to gym, work out for half an hour, shower and run back to work
1pm – 3pm Keep working like a crazy person
3pm Run home
4pm – 7pm - Work on house renovations
7pm – 8pm - Have bath and relax for the only time during the day
8pm – 10pm Online research and buying for things needed for the house, banking and everything else
10pm Crash into bed (well mattress that I store in the bathroom to protect from the worst of the dust).
Rinse and Repeat.
Food is eaten on the run and not surprisingly I’m getting very run down. The other day I fell asleep at 5 (builder was sick and so didn’t come). Woke up in the morning and realised I’d left the gas stove top on all night  Luckily nothing bad happened but that was a big wake up call to ensure I get to bed at 10 every night.Mini Challenge - Halve 2nd Mortgage by Year EndStarting: £10,000 Currently £8,142.62£3,142.62 to go!0 -
