Most of the websites recommended that or pumpkin but oddly enough it looks like rice is what was causing the issue. Maybe. It's diffiuclt to really be sure.

In the end I stopped his food for 12 hours and then put down the kibble again, that was devoured and he's been fine since. I tried a tablespoon of rice the other night as a bit of a test and it straight away started his flatulence back up. So, even if it's only for the sake of my nose I'll be steering well clear :rotfl:

I do know some rice intolerant dogs, mine can't do wheat without similar issues. We worked this out as the dog always needed to go out for a nasty poo in the middle of the night after the cleaner had been and it turned out she was giving her cheap doggie treats.

  • Forgot to mention that when I was in HSBC to change my mortgage deal I asked the lady if she could show me how to enter in a cheque for my FD account. Couldn't be easier so no more losing money by letting cheques expire for me!

 That was very nice of her and I'm glad she'd a dog lover but it definately goes to show that you need to check these things!

I'm glad you are no longer recipients of a midnight poo! :rotfl:

Yes I saw that on your diary. You'll have two big sled dogs to feed - that will be expensive :rotfl:. So cute though - I'd have loved to get a puppy but being alone it just wasn't feasible - I couldn't take the time off to look after it for several months.

Oh well, I love my little poochy and I don't have to toilet train him!

  • I am still waiting on HSBC to send me the forms for my new mortgage deal. For some reason they seem to be taking a while - I'm not sure if I should be contacting them to ask where they are. I think I'll give it until next week.

The correct light bulbs were finally delivered, I have still to send the incorrect second bunch back. I'll make sure to do that tomorrow. As far as the rest of the flat goes I'm still plugging away at it, building furniture and slowly making it actually habitable. Today I put together my extending table and as I assembled 2 of the 4 dining chairs yesterday I finally have somewhere people can sit! This is a huge improvement - up until now the only chair in the house has been the ratty old one I use for painting and it was also covered in cat hair.

My new sofa is also being delivered on Thursday which is far sooner than I was expecting. Quite excited about that actually!

There is still a lot to do, not the least is finishing the floors in my bedroom. I have it all prepped and ready to go and I've been running the radiator in the room for the last couple of days to dry out the floor boards as they were a bit damp from where my mattress was. My bed frame is currently disassembled and I'm now sleeping in the front room (living room) because my bedroom stinks of white spirits and (shortly) polyurethane. I still have no curtains :rotfl:. I've also decided that I'm going to order a bookcase as well. I was planning on using the shelf/cupboard thing I bought and put in the kitchen as a temporary bookshelf but I've changed my mind. So that will be more money! I am really spending it at the moment but it's all on good things rather than being frittered away so I'm actually really happy to be doing it. It will be lovely to have a proper house.

Along with the furniture, I also bought some more things for pooch last night and a light for the bathroom. I'm also on the hunt for wall lights for my bedroom to replace the musty old 1950's style that really don't match the funky look I'm trying to achieve.

Ah, this IS the money saving forum isn't it? Just checking - oh dear....

Is my membership card going to be revoked? :(

  • Avoided a vet bill today. Yesterday pooch was having a munch of something in the garden and on examination it appeared to be some dirty, stinky pig skin. It was rather hard to tell.

Today he was very 'off' and I nearly rushed him to the vet. But I thought I might be overreacting like a typical parent with their first child so I spoke to a vet on the phone first and she gave me some good advice and told me that I should keep an eye on him but that he was likely to be fine. Which he seems to be - after a very subdued morning he was definitely perking up by the later afternoon and my dog walker told me that he was 'full of beans' when she came around in the evening.

So, one vet bill successfully avoided :-) Can't do much to avoid the neutering one I'm going to get in a few days though :)

  • .... I just bought a bookshelf. I can't exactly say I don't need one - I'll be able to get my books out of boxes and from under the stairs. But, one vet bill avoided and I just spend the money on something else :)

Although I likely would have bought the bookshelf regardless, so. Net win?

    Maybe?
