  • He can be as disappointed as he likes about your inability to cooperate at this time. I really don't like that implied threat about "future problems" but I hope that once they take suitable professional advice they will be told what's what. It's no surprise that they need to seek advice but they really should have done that when they started being agents and drawing up their sodding contracts, not now possibly decades later.

Hope that you're feeling OK today EastMids

EMG - I'm sure you're very 'disappointed' by the LA's unprofessionalism and ignorance. Agents like that should be closed down by Trading Standards. I am furious for you.

Any chance of getting a lawyer of your own to do a letter? Sometimes you get legal cover in your house insurance - you could check it out?

I am very disappointed that you will not cooperate. To me a viewing seems a lot less hassle than taking the time to write this and the future problems it may cause. We will approach our lawyers now to see what the next steps are.
I would fire off a quick email that you are more than happy to allow viewings and will do so as soon as you are physically able to do so.

Definitely speak to your GP about all this, if you can make it over there.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • I said last week and reiterated at least twice in my most recent email to them that I appreciate the landlords need to sell, I am aware it is in the contract I have to allow viewings if they are *reasonable* which right now because of my condition they are not, but *as soon* as I am in a position to allow viewings I would let them know and they could gladly arrange them. I am not blanket banning viewings, just right now I am physically unable to.

I can't leave the house very much, I am getting terrible pains in my bump, pelvis and hips. I can't do any bending without being in pain. I have to keep my legs raised or they become painful too.

I have missed the GPs surgery drop in clinic but I am going to phone up now and see if there are any cancellations for the rest of today otherwise I will go in first thing tomorrow and be seen

Thank you for all your continued help and advice. I am angered by the tone of the agents email that I am being deliberately difficult, what would I stand to gain? Like I need all this stress and harassment. It would be so much easier to allow viewings but I just can't right now, as soon as I am, I will gladly allow them, if only for an easier life until we move out

So am I but that response is not totally unexpected, is it?. Just stand firm and please don't reply, especially when you're very cross.
  • No that's it now. I am not replying to their latest email, if their solicitors contact me I will see what they say and seek my own legal advice. I am waiting for a call back today from a legal helpline and I will ask them what the agents solicitor is likely to say to them. I have nothing to say to the agents that I haven't done already. Just need to get some rest, had a horrible night

I don't know how these things work but if moving (as in, leaving your house today) is a problem, could the GP visit you? Or could your midwife visit and write you a letter backing you up?

I have an update, I am so excited, relieved, happy etc!!!!!

The agents have obviously spoken to their solicitors about what the next steps are and realised there aren't any!! I just got this email!
All viewings will now stop and we will let you continue your tenancy in peace. In line with the notice please confirm to me you will be leaving by or on 4th April 2011.

I wouldn't have got this far without any of you for your help, advice and support. And a special thank you to N79 for your draft letter as I combined it with what I wanted to say and it really did the trick

I just want to give a heartfelt thanks to all of you

I shall now take my hormonal, emotional, happy self away to make a cup of tea and celebrate
  • Most excellent but not totally unexpected news! Time to be thinking about your onward move and the new arrival, I think.
  • Let them sweat for 48 hours before you confirm departure...
Act in haste, repent at leisure.
