When did being pregnant become an obstacle to allowing viewings?Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0

Not according to the lady I spoke to at Shelter before. I had been told previously that 'Quiet enjoyment' over rides everything else, especially because I am feeling so under the weather right now, but she didn't seem to think so
I don't want to conform to their timescale as I know they are just trying to put pressure on me in as many ways as possible, but at the same time I don't want to ignore them and then have a locksmith turn up at my door0 -

Have you also tried talking to someone at Community Legal Advice? They can put you in touch with a legal adviser local to you - this LL needs either an authoritative TRO to have a word in his ear or a firmly worded warning letter from a solicitor0 -
Evoke - virtually every thread you post on has you trying to be provocative. Do give it a rest. What weird pleasure do you draw from having a pop at someone who is clearly under more than their fare share of pressure?0

Thanks I have now sent emails off to all three of my local councillors through that website, hopefully one of them will get back to me soon. I am waiting for the TRO to phone me back after he has finished his lunch. Though when the switchboard operator told me his name I realised I have spoken to him before and he gave me completely the opposite information to what Shelter gave me. He was on the side of the Lettings Agent saying I have to co-operate with them and I have to allow viewings. He is also in charge of deciding whether or not I have made myself intentionally homeless. So now I am scared in case I don't do as he advised me to do before, which is to allow viewings, he will find me intentionally homeless and the council then won't help me come April0

(This is not relevant to the OP). At the risk of being difficult, no it is not, for the following reasons:
1) A LL maintains the right to enter a property (even by force - in that they can certainly break a window etc to gain access) in certain very limited circumstances related to emergencies where the entire fabric of the property are at stake. For example, if the property is on fire. In reality, these situations are extremely rare.
2) A court can make an order to allow the LL access in support of the LL's right of access (with 24 hours notice if the tenancy is an AST) to conduct inspections of the fabric of the building and to affect repairs.0 -
The guy at the council didn't want to know. He said he wasn't going to get involved and tell the agents that I wasn't allowing viewings as it was against the terms of the contract. He told me as I had already taken advice from Shelter why was I phoning him? I explained I was phoning him because Shelter had advised me to.
He told me to email the agents and say that viewings were not convenient right now but if things changed (I start to feel well enough to allow them) then I would let them know. I told him I had already sent an email last week saying that and he said if they changed the locks to phone him and he would put me in touch with a solicitor and then hung up
How does that help me with the current situation? He is telling me to write an email and say things I have already said!
He made me feel like !!!!. I can't stop crying. I don't know how to stop this.0 -

It's a bad situation all round. I am heavily pregnant and really feeling it, constantly exhausted, pain in my bump and hips, tiredness, dizzyness, breathlessness etc. I am not up to allowing viewings, I am not even having friends over right now!
The LL needs to sell and is coming under pressure from his bank (according to the lettings agent)
The lettings agent is stuck in the middle
:-(
Don't cut them any slack. The agents are acting on behalf of the LL. If they don't have the guts to tell their client that they won't action an illegal instruction but instead try to bully you then, quite frankly, they are not worthy of any sympathy.EastMidsGal wrote: »I don't have time to write to a councillor or the TRO, or get the CAB to write a letter as the agents wants an answer by tomorrow afternoon
Ignore their timescale. It is not reasonable for you to respond within 24 hours.EastMidsGal wrote: »I am thinking of writing a letter saying if they do turn up to change the locks I won't hesitate to phone the police. There is a clause in the contract saying I have to allow viewings as long as they have permission. Well I am not giving permission for the reasons I spoke about before. Shelter said even with that clause the agents and the LL can't act on it without first taking me to court.EastMidsGal wrote: »The Section 21 they sent me might also not be valid as it is to end an AST but my AST is already over, Shelter told me to check it with the council. But I don't want to go shooting my mouth off in an email to the LAs until I know where I stand with the TRO cos I don't want to make things worse for myself and risk the council classing me as intentionally homeless just in case I need their help later on, which it is looking increasingly likely I willEastMidsGal wrote: »Thanks I have now sent emails off to all three of my local councillors through that website, hopefully one of them will get back to me soon. As above, there is no basis for the council to make this conclusion.0 -
In the absence of any help from the council I am going to write an email to the lettings agent today to hold them off from acting and then I will also put it into a letter and send it to them first class so they have a paper copy and an electronic copy
How does the following sound:
As my previous email stated I am not well enough to allow viewings to take place at this time. I told you that if things changed and I felt able to have viewings take place I would let you know. Your implied threat of gaining access without my express permission in writing constitutes harassment which is a criminal matter and I will not hesitate in phoning the police should you, the landlord or a locksmith either visit my home to change the locks or attempt entry and I do not appreciate you trying to intimidate me into submission in my present condition.
I have taken advice and what you are doing now constitutes harassment and what you are threatening to do is illegal. I will not hesitate in seeking further advice and taking necessary action if you do not leave me alone now to enjoy the quiet enjoyment of my home.
Yours sincerely
What do you guys think?0
