What's he qualified in, what's the job he was looking at. You never know, someone on here may know of something going.......;)
Good luck..
He is a driver and stevedore. He can drive almost anything and is happy to drive HGV class 1 or 2. Based down in Southampton.

Thank you everyone. Still not feeling great this morning but he is visiting an agency this morning and the rec consultant is ex-army so hope he will understand hubby's position. He is far from afraid of hard work and has been known to work an additional 2 jobs to his army work. He loves me and our son so much and all he wants to do is provide for us. The way I go on, I act like I am the first person in the world to experience this but I know I am not.
Thank you mostly cheerful for your suggestion. This is something he is always talking about doing so I will talk to him about it. Definitely something else to focus on.
We are lucky that he is on full normal pay until March however that does mean we cannot apply for any benefits until then. Don't think he can sign on because he left the army of his own free will....even though he does slightly regret it now!Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

Hi Gem, sorry to hear you and your oh are having a hard time at the moment. As you say he is on full pay so hopefully before march something will turn up.
Have a look on tesco and asda job sites as im told their always on the look out for drivers - probably not what he wants to do longtime but an option nonetheless.
Sorry that I havent anything more useful to add but keep your chins up
ab xxI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

It is always frustrating that employers/agencies don't bother replying to job applications - I know it takes time and effort but when someone has shown interest in applying for the vacancy I think a little bit courtesy should be the least they get.
Keep your head up, I was made redundant 5.5 years ago from a job I loved and never thought I would get anything better but now do something I really enjoy and am well paid for doing with loads of time off as well !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

My OH was made redundant and is really struggling. Most of the applications he makes, he doesnt get any sort of response from, which imo is just rude. Or he gets a generic e mail - 'due to the large volume of applications' blah blah blah.
He was saying the other day he looked on S1 jobs and there were 9 jobs on the whole site. Its so depressing, some days he doesnt even go out of the house. It doesnt help when he goes to the job centre and is patronised and made to feel like a second class citizen.'If honour were profitable, every man would be honourable' Thomas More

I think its worst watching him get ignored left right and centre. He is so driven and positive though. I wish I was as strong as him. Makes me very proud to be his wife that is for sure!
Think all these men and women should come together and made some kind of business in teaching people manners. They could make a bloody fortune.Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011

Where there is a will there is a way
Has he thought about setting up his own business? A friend of mine set up her own ironing business and is hiring 2 fulltime people as she can't keep up on her own... I know it's not very blokey but that or something else might provide you with an oppertunerty you never imagined

Might not be manly but as ex-army he is bloody capable lol.
He wants to set up his own business. Maybe starting off offering boot bulling and ironing to the barracks?
Will definitely suggest it to him. Don't think he will say no if he needs to feed the family :beer:Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50Debt Paid February 2011
