Reserved one by phone (300gb) & collected it later from Bristol Newfoundland Road, apparently 2 more left when I called. They still have some Netgear TA612 Voip unts, Linksys printserver and a Linksys NAS adapter.
The Maxtor also has a built in print server if the box is to be believed, haven't opened it yet.0 -
Sorry guys, Im interested in getting an external hard drive, but dont have a clue what this is, or how it could be used?.
Could somebody help please.0 -
A NAS drive like this one - is a Network Attached Storage device - basicaly a big hard drive that you plug into your network - and you can share files easily eg between your laptop and desktop pc...0

If you are connecting to a single PC or laptop then you can make do with a USB external drive. However, if you have a network (wired or wireless) then the NAS drive connects directly to the Network Hub and is available to all using the network.
If you use a wifi connection for a laptop then simply connect the NAS unit to your router and avoid having to use a cable to benefit from the extra storage. You can also connect a printer to it for access to all.0 -
Can you not make the 200gb one a 300gb one (or bigger) by whacking in a bigger hard disk? or is that too simple!!!0

Carlisle have both the 200GB and 300GB units in stock, however the 300GB is £99.91.
200GB was £69.91 but I've had the last one for another file store. Already got a Buffalo 250GB NAS from an eBuyer mis-price!
Carlisle had a lot af clearance Linksys and Netgear stuff ending in ".91" including routers, adapters, VOIP, NAS Drives, also various Seagate and Philips USB2.0 external hard drives, Philips DVD burners (label burning type), HP scanners, Belkin 500VA and 600VA UPS, a couple of HP inkjets (overpriced) amongst other stuff, but obviously no network cameras!!
Also a few "bigger-than-Garmin i3" SatNav units at £99 and £129, but I didn't note the number to check for bargains!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Is it possible to set one of these up so it can be easily accessed over the internet, instead of just over your home network?
i.e. Could I leave one of these on at home and access my files from Uni etc...They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0 -
