Hi booboo and a warm welcome aboard! You sound as though you've reached the part where you've come to detest everything about smoking and are really determined to get away from it. All of us here will be urging you on and you've also joined us at a time when so many folk are at more or less the same stage as you.

You're never alone in the quitting world, keep that in mind. BTW, you did extremely well to do that 400 mile round trip without 'a fag' as that's the time when so many are prone to having smoked. Keep going forward day by day and who knows, you may well entice your GF to join you as well; she's doing so well in considering you and deserves the pride you feel for her. At least you're setting a great example - not least of all for your daughter! :)

Exercise, whether it's to work off those packets of biscuits or not will really help in your fight to quit as it releses the endorphins into the brain which make you feel really good about youself.

All the very best for your new life, booboo.

your amazingly supportive Sue... I think everyone trying to quit needs someone like you..! =)

I dont think ive had an issue at all but relate this to seeing that theres nothing gained in smoking, nothing at all, therefore im not going without as i quit!

Apologies for the short post, had to go do something..

Yes, she does deserve my credit for doing so well.. would love for her to stop too as we'd have such a better life, but i know shes not ready yet.. Im pleasantly surprised shes done so well so far. Once this reduced amount is more routine for her, i think ill then see if i can edge her closer to it, she has seemed impressed with e-cigarettes which is also a plus and may well help!

You're looking at it in the greatest of ways, booboo as that's exactly how it is - it's NOW that you're gaining!

Sadly, I don't come in mini me versions, though you or anyone else would soon tire of me if I did! :D

Re your other message, if you can go through all that, you're well on your way! Here's being ever hopeful with your GF, just give her all the time she needs.

Well done you...Your daughter can try a disposable e-cig just for now if she likes and no harm lost (they're only about £5)....

I know all the links and you're free to PM me and ask for my email if she wants to discuss e-cigs in private (as you're not allowed to post links on here)...

Or even just PM me for my info board links so she can look into the e-cig. I started on 36mg/ml and vaping (e-cig term for inhaling and exhaling on the e-cig) about 3ml a day (and some nasal spray)...

End of December I came off the nasal spray. Had some probs with some of the equipment (think leaking tank....yuck) and now on 28mg/ml....reducing my 2mg/ml every 3-4 weeks. Nice and slow....

Really there are so many flavours out there you would not believe....so if she doesn't like one she can try another. If she doesn't like the disposable in the sense of taste or not enough nic there are other options. The disposable right now wouldn't do it for me. (not strong enough) but I'm happy with my set up (well no...not exactly. I want a new one. £16 from the states on Tuesday :j...better build and more girly...)

So yeah she should do her research first or contact me for help. (or geordie kev)

I'm now 19 weeks :j :j and the tank is fine. Had a whoopsie purchase of a big tank from England yestersday pm but got the DIY tank sorted so not needed now :)

    Refund sorted pending paypal

    Hi all,

I am stopping tomorrow with an ecig....have had very scary moments with my health...have a bone tumour but after 6 weeks eventually found out its benign. Having op on Feb 1st to remove it and all will be well.
Have decided the smoking has to go and know a friend who has given up with the help of an ecig.
Good luck all...we will get there!!

Theres nothing quite like a health scare to put things into perspective im sure.. Cant tell you how good it is to hear that its not worse!

Dont give in, i notice youve read a few posts above and im sure youve seen were all in to support each other.

Best of luck to you, make sure you come back routinely and give us your highs and lows, i shall certainly be following your progress.
  • Hi everyone, hope you are all having a good day.

It's really chucking it down here today and a collegue has just gone outside for a cigarette. I'm wondering now how I ever did that...

It would seem I've inspired a friend too, I spoke to her this morning and she told me she's now planning on giving up. It's catching :rotfl:
I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...

Hi jacci and a very warm welcome to the thread. As booboo's rightly said, there really is nothing like a health scare to push us to stop smoking. I really am so pleased the tumour's benign, but it still pushes you on to wanting to stop 'just in case' for the future. Once you've got to grips with all the bad habits it does make life easier to live knowing you've done your very best to live healthily.

All the very best with the e-cig, I take it that it's one of the one's that look like the real thing...or is the 'peace pipe' type? If it's the former then use it only as and when you need it, then as soon as you feel you can live life without it, please do so.

Keep reading the posts on the thread to help you through and let us know your feelings, good or bad, it's always good to let them out. I'll send you something to help further. I'm sure we'll see you before, but all the very, very best with the op and your recovery.

What you're about to do in quitting smoking will be like giving yourself a huge gift....of LIFE!!

All the very best of wishes,

    Sue x

Hi there Little bit dizzy and good for you in keeping warm and dry, lets hope he/she comes to their senses soon.

ooooh I hope your friend can stop as well, at least she'll have a great motivator in you! It's amazing how quickly people catch on with a "well, if she/he can do it then SO CAN I!!!!

All the best to you both dizzy and very well done on Day 12!!! :D
