It sounds daft but I actually find the 3 week mark one of the hardest......and that's on the e-cig....

New cartomisers on today (the bit you put the liquid in Sue)...vape fab...couldn't understand why I wasn't getting enough nicotine...then had a brain wave :D....

Praise God I didn't go out and buy cigs at that point :)...but that was tuesday and thursday - a blip - not the end of the world....and I can't keep repeating my blips every 48 hours and still hold my head up high...

And ladies you do realise now you're smoke free you can wear perfume again and people can smell it on you instead of being a horrible combo of fags and perfume...so go for it girlies and get those samples :)

So glad I have found this thread.

I've tried to stop and fail numerous times in the past! Had a successful 2 year stop but unfortunately that didn't last. I have 4 cigarettes left in my packet and once they've gone THAT'S IT!!!!

Hopefully this thread will be like a motivational support thread! I'm looking forward to what would effectively be a 12.5% pay rise after tax! Wish me luck :)

I've thought of you so many times Carl, wondering how you've got on. I know you came back once with a great update, but this one is brilliant!!!

    Very many congratulations
, Carl, over 18 months free from smoking is enormous!!! :T:T:T:T I always say this is the best journey you'll ever make and the best gift you'll ever give your body and by heck you're proving it so. Thanks so very much for coming back to see us...please keep doing so every so often, it's great incentive for quitters in progress.

Have great holidays Carl and WELL DONE! ;)

Hello there dear Erme!!! :hello: Not ignoring you, honest, just had a very busy weekend with DH revamping the garden and it isn't done yet, but looking soooo much better. :)

It's so good to see you back and know you've had such a good time. I love Skye, we loved "Loch Slapin" best and "Luib" on the way to Portree. ME - have time to write e-mails and be on facebook????!!!:shocked: Sorry Erme, I just can't...I'm kept busy here and on my SPC thread (see below) but I've go a great imagination where anywhere in W to mid Scotland's concerned, such a delightful area...midges 'n all!!! :rotfl: Torridon and on up to Scourie....fantastic!!

Well done with the camera, have you had a go with it yet? How are you getting on with the rain up there? I'm hoping you're ok, but I know you're all having a bad time.

I know you're having blips, but I'm still so proud of you for all you've done, it's still much to be proud of Erme so keep plodding along and trying your very best. :T:T :D

You're so right about perfume being great and far more attractive than the awful stench of stale smoke, look ahead to it ladies, gents too with after shave.

Take care Erme, it's soo good to see you here again. :)

    Love, Sue xx

It's so nice to see some longer term quitters! :T

Hey Mrs PP I remember you very well - so very pleased for you, you have done brilliantly! :A

A little something for those that haven't seen it before..........

    The Smoker’s Vow

To be said just before taking your first puff after
having quit for any appreciable period of time

    <B>
With this puff I enslave myself
    to a lifetime of addiction.
While I can’t promise to always love you,
I do promise to obey every craving and
    support my addiction to you
no matter how expensive you become.

I will let no husband or wife,
    no family member or friend,
no doctor or any other health professional,
    no employer or government policy,
    no burns or no stench,
    no cough or raspy voice,
    no cancer or emphysema,
    no heart attack or stroke,
no threat of loss of life or limbs,
    come between us.

    I will smoke you forever
    from this day forth,
    for better or worse,
    whether richer or poorer,
    in sickness and in health,
    till death do us part!

“You may now light the cigarette.”

    “I now pronounce you a full-fledged smoker.”

Postscript: While 1 in 2 marriages end in divorce, the addiction to smoking will last a lifetime—albeit a shorter lifetime. Once a smoker, annulment of the addiction is impossible. One puff can result in a permanent relapse. Don’t take the chance of relapsing to this marriage of inconvenience.
    NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF!

    Good Evening,

Just found this thread after searching for some inspiration and advice, am hoping this thread will be the motivation for me and my partner to quit for good.

This is the second time I have quit, lasted 5 years and whilst going through a marriage breakdown started again and now 4 years on am quitting again.

I smoked between 8 and 10 cigarettes a day and my partner smoked around 15 a day. We have just moved into our new house and had made a pact that once we were settled we would both give up together. We started by going to the doctors and getting patches on prescription but I found they irratated my skin so have had to stop using them and am now using the inhalator, which I have found much better for me. My partner is using a mix of the two, some days he is using a patch and other days the inhalator.

Throughout the three weeks we have both had good days and some really bad days. I think the trying not to eat too much as well didnt help me, so I have now given into that although not too much as I will end up using the money we saved buying a new wardrobe as I grow out of my clothes. If anyone has any hints or tips about not putting on too much weight, that would be greatly appreciated.

Also if anyone has any useful facts that would be good too.

Thank you for reading and here's to another week of not smoking.
