finding it hard today as its my first day back at work since becoming smoke free, but i made it and feel a bit calmer now:)
I have been using a inhalator a few times a day to help me but yesterday my mouth ,throat and tongue were really sore, went to pharmacy ,they gave me gel for oral thrush.Has this happened to anyone else on here?
Trying not to use the inhalator any more.
Dont know how I would be without this thread.
You lot are inspiring me to keep going :T

hey drsmum - soz I wasn't around earlier in your time of need, but luckily the lovely erme was able to give you a hug! Its real tough in the early days but stick with it it doesn't last too long & its really worth it once you get to the other side. I didn't get a sore throat but I did get a horrendous gum infection that was really painful & came with all the usual horrible symptomsit did get better though
can you work out any stratgies for work? I was off work for the first week as it was over the new year, so I got over the climbing the walls stage. Be kind to yourself, lovely lunches, lovely bubble bath after work to unwind. I'm thinking of you xDF as at 30/12/16

I am reminded to day of that old Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel song 'Don't Give Up'
don't give up
'cause you have friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I believe there's the a place
there's a place where we belong
There was a time i didn't think I could last 5 hours without a fag..
Then it grew to five days....
Five weeks passed ... and today
Five months
I so easily could have smoked a fag today!!! But I have not missed all that many of the 2270 fags that I haven't put in my mouth over the past five long months.

well after a wonderful talk to S my friend who's been on the e-cig for over 6 months I concluded the reason I failed the other week was low nicotine levels after 2 days....so here's to try again upping the nicotine to 30mg (I'll up it to 32mg if I have to but no more...) and using a mixture of VG (glycerine) and alcohol (vodka - appreciate this is not for everyone though) to dilute with. Still a tad messy so I may have to invest in a blunt syringe in a few weeks if this is working for me (can you imagine backpacking with a load of mess every evening LOL) but I've got 2 days practically cig free end of next week so why not?
She is also really into the vanilla like I am and said the coffee tasted more like a cir than the virginia. Interesting to get a first hand perspective...So she's going to give me some flavouring to add to the mix when I desperately need the TASTE of a cig which normally happens about the 6-8 wk mark for me. She also said that vanilla and coffee was a fab mix...
I appreciate flavourings aren't for everyone. I know one chap who hates the flavourings and just has plain nicotine...But watch this space. If this is possible for me it's possible for ANYONE (bare in mind after 2 days or less I get psychotic/depressed if I don't have enough nicotine. It kind of has this nasty habit of making quitting the cigs tricky )
All I need is possibly another mixing bottle (from the chemist) and like a spare 4 cell battery box (got an extra 4 batteries the other day - means I just charge once a day).....
I'm putting the carts in a bank bag to carry round with me so they don't mess everywhere...nice and cheap and MSE..

and it's going really well. Struggled a bit about lunchtime but then just popped my 30mg cartridge on and felt a bit heady...
How is everyone else doing?
Just at my old training scheme pre docs to see about this injection site that has a HUGE lump and redness

Seems to me you are trivialising the efforts of those who have successfully quit and who come onto this forum to help others? Or am I being over-sensitive and got hold of the wrong end of the stick? Please clarify. If you are taking the rise, I'll not bother offering encouragement....(goes off in a strop)
My apologies if I offended. I was certainly not trivialising anyone's efforts. I gave up last December with the help of people on this thread and was just being (I thought) humorous. I think Kiwisaver and I share a warped sense of humour and 'If I can, anyone can.' is meant to be an encouragement - I smoked for 50 years.
Please can I join the kiss and make up group? But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -

Och I need to join that too...ya way behind the queue...about 3 miles behind me there LOL
Bad news on the injection site...it has an infection.....anyone know anything about side effects of penicillin and when exactly to take them?
Good news for those wanting a cheap yummy no smokes treat. Do you have a Sp*r locally? Here in scotland they have own brand luxury ice cream for £1.49 :money:...good cheap no smokes treat (or way to spend ones cig monies)....
Hugs

Hi there drsmum, I'm so pleased to hear that your pushing on with it even if you are finding it a little difficult. You know that your health is at stake but you also know that you CAN get through this and come out the other side feeling so very happy with yourself. It feels hard at times, I know, but determination gets us through and we become very, very happy individuals knowing that our health is gaining off due to kicking the fags! Keep focused drsmum, you'll get there!
You're doing brilliantly everyone, please for your own sakes keep it up and stay strong throughout your journey as that final run of it is amazing! :j
