something i have found very helpful when quitting was to get a nice big glass jar and put it on top of the TV,

then at night just before bed, if i had gone without having a fag i would put the normal amount of money i would have spent on my fags into the jar so i could actually see everyday how much i was saving instead of a virtual amount of money in my bank statement

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

*Strides in, brandishing sword* "ME! ME! I will take up your challenge."

*The crowd cheers. :j:j The lions pale with fear._pale__pale_

I read Kiwisaver's post 'Life sends us OHs to wind us up and for someone to rant at.'

I chuckle.:laugh: I laugh so hard my stomach hurts. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I clutch it.:eek::eek:

Oops, that sword is sharp.:whistle:*

Everyone is doing so well! I promise you at the start of this journey that you will win. It will get easier. I seem to have suddenly passed some sort of milestone in the past week. Quite what, I don't know but I seem to have suddenly started taking control in other areas of my life as well - perhaps I've been subconsciously wondering if I will manage to be a real non-smoker and now I'm sure I will?

    One thing I do know.

    NOT ONE PUFF, EVER!
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Seems to me you are trivialising the efforts of those who have successfully quit and who come onto this forum to help others? Or am I being over-sensitive and got hold of the wrong end of the stick? Please clarify. If you are taking the rise, I'll not bother offering encouragement....(goes off in a strop)

I truly wasn't trivialising or taking the rise out of anyone. I am sorry if my attempt at humour wasn't clear, I too am one of the people you refer to who has quit, is trying to stay quit and come to this forum to hopefully support others as well as to help myself stick with the program. I never had any intent of any malice to upset anyone; far less to trivialise the efforts we have all gone to either in quitting or staying quit.

I may be a bit bonkers and usually can see the funny side of every situation and I appreciate it's not always quite so easy to convey the same thoughts and intent of what's in our head into written words. So again I apologise, if this wasn't apparent.

By way of explanation, I simply saw some parallel in all the 'old-timers' coming forward to say 'If I can do it anyone can.' It simply reminded me of the well known scene from the film Spartacus, where all the gladiators in an attempt to hide the real Spartacus come forward one by one and lay claim to be Spartacus in ever louder voices than the previous guy. Chaos ensues with everyone shouting and claiming to be Spartacus.

finding it hard today as its my first day back at work since becoming smoke free, but i made it and feel a bit calmer now:)

I have been using a inhalator a few times a day to help me but yesterday my mouth ,throat and tongue were really sore, went to pharmacy ,they gave me gel for oral thrush.Has this happened to anyone else on here?

Trying not to use the inhalator any more.

I'll just be really chuffed right now if my 2oz of tobacco started on sat lunch time lasts till tomorrow morning :( - that's how badly I'm doing at this whole thing right now ...then they'll be the challenge of getting tomorrow's tobacco to last till Saturday lunch ..

If this sounds like a lot to you folk remember - in May I was smoking an oz a day....so this is a huge improvement...though far from the end of the road :)
