Day 100 without cigarettes today. I'm feeling really proud of myself :jDebt free since December 2015. It can be done0

Hi All
sorry wasnt around yesterday but was decorating the bathroom (yuck!). I hope you are all ok. I am currently down to 3-4 a day which is a massive improvement on the 20. I have emailed my local stop smoking nhs trust and am waiting for them to get back to me. The delay is because I wanted to see the dr first.
I am however still DETERMINED to stopjust need to get the right tools in place!
I shall keep you all posted
MmooSlowly getting out of debt and still studying :j0 -
I'm on day 1 (well 14 hours) on Nicorette Nasal spray so it's very early days for me. I know the nasal spray is highly addictive so it's just one day at a time and try and use it bare minimum....Also I have a reduction plan in place...
Everything was fine till the kettle died at about 5am  but at least I slept okay
Why do kettles only last a year or just over? Never mind first day treats I NEED AIR FRESHENER!!!. For some reason the whole kitchen stinks of vinegar already - that I'd never noticed before? LOL And I'm sure that once I get past the first few days my house is going to smell completely different....:D
I have perfume already (cheap sunflowers stuff) because I value my sense of smell coming back when I try and quit (have quit for about 7 weeks a few year back on nasal spray) and so first week treats are going to be £5 on smellies (baring in mind I was spending about £30 on rollies a week this is okay. £5 treats; £5 smoking saving fund for either a new rat cage; aperture for mac which is currently a good deal on download - save almost £100 on the box set or like a rail card - £20 - & £20 on debts). So yeah.....Think I will go onto patches once I'm over the first couple of weeks - maybe 21mg - even if this means I have to buy patches towards the end of the NRT programme (am doing via chemist on NHS) it'll be worth it cos I know after my first week the worst time for me is about week 6 whereby I just get such whopping cravings it's unreal out of nowhere....So this time I will not give in and get through them (think they're only supposed to last 2-3 days - it's just a question of getting through them).
Anyhow....need another brew and do my knitting
Tired but will be okay. Many thanks DNMS and Lucy for all your peerspiration (peer inspiration)

Sorry can't you just go to your local community pharmacy and get the NRT on prescription? In Scotland they have trained smoking cessation advisors at the chemist? Just a thought...apologies if it's unsolicited...Have every faith you will succeed Mooo.....the slow snail wins the race remember?

PS. For folk using anything other than windows on their pc's the first quit meter (i forget what it's called) works fine on mac os 1.6 with wine :j:dance:

oh no irish! first bit of advice is come on here, secondly pick a day & go for it, leading up to it start reducing - maybe smoke every other one?
do you need NRT or the support of the smoking cessation service? Some ppl have used champix & it has really been helpful - is that for you?
are you falling off because you're hanging around with smokers? can you change that for a while? is it stress? (that was what made it particularly hard for me initially) then take up something to deal with that - I have a running programme called couch potato to 5k in 9 weeks if you want it?
I will forward sue's email with tips & tricks to help. can we agree to meet on here at certain times of the day? I'm up for being your support crutch for a while? xDF as at 30/12/16

C25K is fab...done that before :j
Anyhow had a nap (refused to replace sleep with cigs) and like then got up and like went out to get knitting needles.....on the way out thought 'I'm not with it....I don't even know today's agenda!!!' and felt very down and had the doom and glooms. Still having the doom and glooms and trying so hard to ignore them. Think I'm just really tired and have poor concentration. It just seems so bottoms up and I don't know why. It's like suddenly symptoms return and the only thing that has changed is no cigs. I don't know if I can get through this or not or if I should just up my nicorette (currently aiming for 25mg a day in spray and trying to stick to that but bare in mind I was a 6oz of tobacco a week I was a very heavy smoker )
Or should I just go quits with today's agenda and try and relax and potter? I know I have ironing to do but I just can't be bothered. I'd be happy just to sit and listen to the radio and knit....
Sorry for rant...I've tried phoning the helplines but am getting really irritable so want to shout and scream 'can't do that' at everyone.....It was okay @ 10am...it's like getting really bad now....
I might just up my nicorette for an hour or two and see if that helps? Just to max dose for an hour or two....I don't know?
Is this normal and does this pass?
E
PS. Just read page 1 and now know what I'm feeling is normal nicotine withdrawal and doespass and it was so encouraging...There was I thinking earlier 'the end is nigh, I've chosen a day where literally no one will be around on day 2' and now I feel so much better. Doesn't matter what I do so long as I don't smoke. Everything else can wait...it'll get easier soon :j and if I can do it anyone can:dance:

I agree Erme, stuff any routines you don't have to do! Just do whatever you have to do to get yourself through these first few days without the fags. If that means sitting happily knitting and listening to the radio all day, sleeping, or pottering around the house, then what do you have to lose? You go for it! Chores and other stuff will still be there when you are ready to tackle them. It is quite draining going through the withdrawals, so sleep if you need to and don't be feeling bad or guilty about leaving a bit of ironing.
I'm pleased you're still wanting to quit and you're sounding more positive and upbeat, so long may it continue. The longer you stay away from smokes, the stronger your resolve and confidence in the 'process' becomes and the easier it gets. :TMortgage
