  • Hi all, hope you're all doing well, I'm in a strange headspace at the moment with not much to say because it all seems like pure trivia compared to the stuff that's been going on around me these past few days.:(

Anyway I have gone cold turkey off the patches as of last night, so 48 hours more should see me totally nicotine free.

One month, one week, four days, 12 hours, 17 minutes and 29 seconds. 637 cigarettes not smoked, saving $441.27. Life saved: 2 days, 5 hours, 5 minutes.

    Hi there

I am going through cold turkey too, it's been 1 day, 11 hours and 33 minutes since I stopped smoking. I come here every time I get a craving. Good luck x :)

  • Champix 10 days smoke free

    Hi all

Managed a major hurdle last night - drinks and takeaway at a friend's house with the girls AND NO SMOKING! :T:beer::T

2 very heavy smokers there and another girl who has recently given up - but she had a cig and I didn't. Feels great, didn't even feel tempted to have any.

Got home and when I walked in I could smell the stale smoke on my clothes :( Would never have noticed this before when I was smoking and I'm quite shocked to realise that I used to smell like that all the time!

Anyway, hope you are all well x

Well hello all! Very nice to see everyone is doing so well!
Im sorry Ive not been around much, however - bigger fish to fry in the form of my stunning daughter who arrived on valentines day. She weighed 5lbs 15oz and we named her Elsie Ann. She is beautiful and we/re very happy.
On the smoking front - I still think about smoking, but 1) no where near wanting one and 2) far too busy for it to last!
Hope everyone is well, and I will update signature and avatar with a pic soon ;) Sally x
Well done, Sally!!! She looks gorgeous. :T:T

    Hiya,

The things that have worked best for me are:
Exercise (sounds like you have this one covered!!)
    Carrot and cucmber sticks
Moving into a different room when you get a craving
Accepting that its gonna be tough
    Posting here
Cleaning teeth and washing hands to appreciate how fresh they are
    Allowing myself to feel angry/sad/relieved/happy/frustrated!

That last one sounds obvious but it does help!

That last one is probably the most important. When I felt down or whatever, I was feeling guilty and weak that I felt like that till got it sussed!

It feels quite strange but I really cant ever imagine myself smoking again. The other times iv quit I always found myself wishing that I could smoke but I dont have anything like that this time. When I see someone smoking Im just so glad that I dont have to do it anymore! My friend has also quit smoking, I think I inspired her ;) lol!

    Catherine xxxxxx

Well done Catherine :T That feeling of knowing I won't smoke again is really good, isn't it. :j:j:j

Welcome to lots of new people.:wave: You're in the right place here. Rant and rave if you need to - remember those a little farther down the road have been there, done that

Kiwi : Not a lot anyone can say about the earthquake except that we are thinking about you all out there. The more stories come through, the more awful it sounds.

All well here. I forget about it for whole days at a time now and had to reboot the quit counter to see how long it has been for my header here! All I need to do now is find the £587 I've saved  I wonder if it's down the back of the sofa (where's the confused smiley when you need it? :rotfl:)

Keep going folks. We CAN do it and we WILL do it - together. :j:j:j
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Hi again everyone! :wave:Good to be back with you after time out helping family members, then having a filthy cold! :(

Very many congratulations, Sally and hubby on the birth of your little treasure, Elsie Ann!!! :A Wecome to the world, Elsie Ann and may you be blessed with good health and in keeping safe....and always free from fags! :)

For anyone feeling panicky/jittery, try Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy, it really does help settle you down. My DD used it through her exams at school, college and uni, and now swears by it.

Go very steady with the junk food, mmikailian, carried on just that little too long and you may find it hard to break free from the habit. Slice up some carrots and celery, apples too and nibble away on them whenever you feel peckish. A glass of water will help a LOT too!! Aside from that you're doing brilliantly!!!

Great news, Ettenna!! You flirted just a tad with the puff, but I'm delighted it repelled you! I do hope your lass is ok now, poor girl.

Hi krycek985 and a very warm welcome to the thread, to stopping smoking and staying that way too!! How is it going today?? All the very best with saving for your flat. :)

Hello Lucy1010 and a very warm welcome to you also. Whoever sent you to us was very wise indeed. You're right, enough really IS enough! Pop in to your Dr and tell him about the chest pains, it could well be asthma that's bothering you; far better to get yourself checked now though. I see you're fearful of getting lung cancer, those fears were what drove me to stop, I was absolutely terrified every single day!!! Use the relationship break up and your fears to drive you forward. Wouldn't it be great if that break up was just what you needed to quit? Lift yourself out of the depression by thinking to yourself that you will gain from it - not lose!!! ;) I'll send you a PM, it helps a lot for all quitters, but especially for those going by CT. " It is much easier to kick the cravings when I read from ex smokers... Ex smokers that smoked like me." That is so very true, Lucy, no non smoker can ever know what it's like, whereas we do, all too well. Keep reading what others write, and let us know your feelings too - not only will it help you, but it helps others, here or via lurking, too. Good luck with the app - such great things and help at hand wherever you are. Only a few hours before your body's free of nicotine. You CAN do this, Lucy - and NOT die from the cravings! :)

Well done CompBunny, it looks as though you're both getting a handle on staying stopped now. Congratulations with the distance travelled so far!!! :T:T

Many congratulations, Catherine!!! :T:T:T:T Though I never for one second would have thought you'd gone by the wayside, you always came across as strong...now you've proved it!! :j I loved the following bit "My friend has also quit smoking, I think I inspired her" I don't doubt that it's the truth Catherine, it's amazing what an encouragement we all can be, keep her going, and very well done you!

Brilliant news on being 7 months FREE, DD!!! You've done marvellously - very many congratulations!!! :T:T:T:T

Kiwi, though I truly understand a little of how you would naturally be feeling, it's a true old clich! that life really does go on. Keep sparing thoughts for those gone and those mourning them, but you have to live your life too. Very well done on stopping the use of patches!!

Very well done, Janie, just always be sure never to have more than you know is sensible for you. Good news that you enjoyed yourself so much and weren't tempted!!!

VERY WELL DONE, DNM & Tricia!!!!! Great news about the pair of you!!!! What a way you've come and how wonderful to look back on the distances and know you've made it!!! :j:j Congratulations! :T:T:T:T

Keep very strong throughout your journeys everyone. Keep focused on each healthier day and that come the end of it all, you will be feeling just as proud as is ever possible - I promise you! One day at a time is the best way..but keep your eyes on the ultimate goal - the journeys end.

so sorry to hear about your break up but hopefully over time something much more wonderful will happen for you (when I broke up with my partner 6b years ago I was devastated and had a breakdown. Now I realise as difficult as it was it was the best thing as I have met someone who has changed my life - I really wish you the same x)
