Eh Caz, that is the very best news and I'm so very, very chuffed for you! Congratulations on all the hard work you've put in and on all you're now receiving as a result of it, it'll be the best news for all your youngsters!!! :T:T Have a wonderful time in Germany with your Son and his family. There are parts in the southern area that I adore from being over there for 3 weeks with my lass when she was there for a year as part of her Uni course. Make the very best of it all and keep in mind those brilliant stats!!! :jYou're doing so very well Caz, I'm so proud for you and of you.

See you when you're back. Auf Wiedersehen.

Just wanted to say thankyou so much for your lovely words Sue and Ruby they were very much appreciated and really did help :T On a positive, today I have woken up absolutely full of cold, bizarre as it may sound this is great as smoking really is the last thing I feel like doing, my throat is on fire, me head's stuffed up and my chest hurts too, even if I was still smoking I never smoked when I felt like this so it's not bothering me today :j.

Hope everyone else has had a good day and thankyou again for the support you really are such a fab bunch here

Fab news Angela!!! how are you finding it? are you using anything to help you? Well done, it may be tough but the feeling of taking control over the little s***sticks is satisfying :D Well done!! xx
  • morning all, just popping in to say hi! still going strong, never say never, but i honestly can say i haven't thought about wanting to smoke or even thought about times when i might want to smoke (tortured myself with that) for well over a month now. i sort of forget that i've quit smoking, because i can't remember what it was like when fags ruled my life. they dictated my routine! not long to go til 6 months, and i have promised myself a pandora bracelet as a treat when i get there!

Hi Inca, and very well done on sticking with it! If there was ever a time to feel absolutely grotty then THIS was just the time you were looking for. :j Let's hope it lasts just long enough for you to feel much better about the fags. Just always remember though, you've lost nothing in stopping using those nasty, vile, disgusting, dirty, smelly, cancer-giving little bests, but all the things you're gaining are uncountable. For every hour or day without them that's precious to you because you've stopped - feel the pride within and know that you're GAINING so much as a result! You're doing yourself proud, Inca. Stay strong, focused and committed to changing your life for a far better one! [Edit} I've just seen the part quoted to Angela below, now if that piece wasn't written by someone determined to quit, then I'll ride a donkey seawards!!! ;)You're doing GREAT and already helping others too!! You CAN make it and WIN, Inca!!! :D

Hi and a warm welcome to the thread, angela0007. :D What a great time you've chosen to quit, when spring's right around the corner and then summer beyond that, all so much to look forward to - not to mention quitting itself!! What means are you using?

Congratulations MissGolightly!!!! :T:T:T Look how amazingly well you've done, I can scarcely belive it's almost 4 months and 3 weeks already!!! It sounds as though Champix (crochet too) is working wonderfully for you. Keep an eye on the dates MissG as I reckon you'll be off out to buy that Pandora bracelet soon enough and what a treat that will be! ;)

Hi xmercx and GREAT news about you and OH being 3 weeks free!!! Congratulations to you both!! :T:T You got through the row with your OH which is so very good, as to really know you've quit you need to be free for a full year, to experience all the seasons and happenings that affect us through a year, it's then we know we've MADE IT!!! Keep up the brilliant work ...and next time you row and it goes silent, turn and face each other, see if that helps. If my DH and I have had a ding dong, it all goes quiet, but after about an hour at most, we can never look at each other without grinning and then...... Well, that's none of you lots business!!! The horrible gunk is great, keep coughing it up and out and know things are starting to heal inside. You're both doing fantastic!!

Well done folks, keep hard at it whatever you do and never give in to the evil little beggar that sometimes shouts from your brain - shout back and let it know it WILL NOT WIN - YOU WILL!!!!

Hi all, sounds like everyone is doing well. I had a strong reminder today of why i have given up smoking, a friend I haven't seen for a while has smoking related cancer and seems nothing can be done. I feel for her and her family, and am so glad I have given up, i can't undo all the years damage, but hopefully i will now have a better chance.

  • Hi Inca, thank you for the support and well done to you.

I'm mainly using will power but have applied half of a patch for about 5 - 6 hours during the day on 3 of the days so far.

If I feel that the craving is becoming a bit too much thats when I have applied the half patch, and believe it or not it works for me, not straight away like but within the hour the urge has settled back a bit.

In the past I have used a patches for when flying, full patch (long haul) half patch (mid haul) and none for short haul. I would apply the patch or half patch at the point of having last cig outside airport and rip it off around 30 minutes before landing.
