The above poster is referring to a replacement faceplate.
Thes are good, i use one myself.
The one I have is by ADSL Nation but others are available.

just ordered one from adsl nation now, worth a try i suppose.
my internet is on again now, speed is faster but it keeps disconnecting randomly and going slow. when i first got in from work i did a speedtest on and got 4.7meg, since then it's disconnected about 10 times and is now at 3meg but it was down to 0.5meg at one point.
router is synching at 6944. SNR is 6.1db, maybe something to do with why it keeps disconnecting?0 -
Is this still on the test socket?
Have you swapped out both your ADSL filters for known good ones (replace each filter in turn and retest)? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Please confirm you are connecting with ethernet, not wireless. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

yeah i'm still using the test socket. swapped the ADSL filters around, no difference. i only have 2 filters that i got with the router.
i normally connect wirelessly, but i have had it plugged in for the last 10 mins and it is acting the same, ran a speed test and got the same speed, looked at the router stats and they were just the same so i don't think it's a wireless issue0 -
Just swapping the filters over does not rule out a fault. Disconnect both the extension phone and the Sky box, retest, then reconnect each filter/extension in turn, testing each time.
The 'free' filters supplied by ISP's are the cheapest imaginable, and frequently go bad after a while (assuming they're any good to start with-my speeds went up 20% after I bought some decent ADSL Nation filters). No free lunch, and no free laptop

When it cuts out does the internet LED on the router change colour or flash? Or any other lamp changes? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

after i found the wiring from the master socket to the slave socket by the sky box i disconnected it and removed all the wiring as it was old poor quality wiring. all i have in my house now is one master socket.
i have an adslnation faceplate on order now.
stays green, appears to be working fine but is not. When it cuts out does the internet LED on the router change colour or flash? Or any other lamp changes?
i just had a call back from sky CST 10 mins ago, i told them what it was like, he said it sounds like they have made the line too fast and now it's unstable. said he's going to call BT and get them to try and find a happy medium where it's faster but not unstable and call me back in 48hrs to see how it's going.0 -
Thanks for the update. I guess if its a quick drop out the the indicators might not respond, although with a resync i'd have thought that the internet lamp would flash amber before returning solid green again.
The only other thing I can suggest would be to download routerstats or routerstats lite, and monitor your connection for a few hours.
It may be able to point to the fault.

well my connection is stable now, and i'm getting faster speeds off peak (4.5meg) but in the evening it goes down to below 1 meg still.
router stats are 12.5db SNR ad it's synching at 5184 DL.0
