Ah right, thats where I am now. Theres only t1 there now though, must have moved the cst, they generally sound english. They were in Belfast up Duncairn Gardens when I was there. Then we merged with Tier3.
I actually got an agent in Lipa sacked for lying on numerous tickets, which was found when we checked back thru them,The script he wrote on each ticket was exactly the same no matter what the issue, & he tried numerous times to put a call thru, which was rejected each time, then he dropped the call thru to me.
No T/S by Tier 1 had been done by him.So my manager got him sacked.
I've heard some crackers like that about t1 agents. in training they had us listen to a call where the agent tells the customer he couldnt be arsed to get his supervisor. when the customer said "what am i suppose to do then with no internet?" he replies "dunno.... go to sleep". Shocking.

well after waiting 72 hours (not 24 as i was first told) to see if the line "suspend and resume" had done anything, i called sky back to see what was happening. i got put through to another guy at CST, and he told me to do a speedtest at https://www.speedtester.bt.com and then he said he would have a look at the results himself and give me a call back in 15 mins which he did. when he called back he said there is defo a problem i should be getting much faster speeds and he is going to raise the fault to BT and call me back on monday evening.
last night the internet was as normal, very slow in the evenings about 1-1.5meg. and this morning, it is incredibly slow at about 0.3meg, and i have had a look at the router stats and it seems something has changed, the router is now syncing at over 6 meg and the SNR is down to 6.9.
anybody care to venture a guess as to what is happening? should i try re-setting the router, or just leave it and wait untill monday evening in case i disturb something?0 -
The router is doing its best, and is syncing at the optimum noise margin. However with your line attenuation you should be syncing at around 8Mbps ( i.e. the maximum you can get with Sky connect).
Are you plugged into the master socket or your test socket?
You could try running a speed test at different times during the day.
Its entirely possible that BT are throttling the connection.
PS You are not connecting wirelessly are you, if so reconnect using ethernet and redo speed tests. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
It has been suggested to the OP several times that they need to use the test socket not the master, as yet this has not been acknowledged. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Maybe a pretty picture:-

You would need to be put thru to what was the old Tier 2 (where I worked) as only they can do that.Unfortunatly, you will need to go thru troubleshooting with the Tier 1 dept so they can raise a fault ticket.
Nonsense I'm Tier 1 and can reprofile without escalating to Tier 2 . Things have obviously changed since your day
With those results though I'd be checking for an extension cable and going into the test socket first. I really don't understand why the OP hasn't just rung Sky though. There's a really nice agent on after 3pm today OP

Two good points
Connect is often throttled at peak times and yes wireless would account for the issue and is very simply sorted with a channel change most likely.
EDIT Just read back and seen a fault report has been raised with BT. CST don't normally do that unless something on the line shows up so you should be sorted on Monday.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Only some can. I don't have access to that. We have people on hand taking requests instead.Nonsense I'm Tier 1 and can reprofile without escalating to Tier 2 . Things have obviously changed since your day

well my internet is not working now, i'm posting this from my parents house.
macman, i'm in the test socket.
i had a look at the router stats and it's synching at 6750 now, line attenuation is 34.5 bd and the SNR is -2db. cant connect to the internet at all.
so they are definetly doing something, hopefully by tomorrow it will be resolved.0 -
I've got a dedicated outlet for my adsl from sky on my master socket as the splitter was causing issues with it. Never had a problem with it since.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0
