Hi, its been great reading your posts - keep up the great work (and savings!) as for your aunties birthday there is absolutely nothing wrong with re-gifting especially as you know she will like them - maybe you could make an extra special effort with the card if it makes you feel better!!
good luck xx0 -
Hey hun,
Well done you, you've made such progress already:T!
I'm in the process of psyching myself up to dive into my huge freezer and create some culinary delights from what's left in there!!! - not sure how i'm gonna do as i had a brief scan last night and found 2 snowballs left from a couple of weeks ago (yes, actual balls of snow) courtesy of my girls!! some bagels and a few half used packs of fishfingers!! The freezer is v silimar to other areas of the house (the attic of doom, shed of dread, cupboard under the stairs, oh i'm not even gonna go there -lol) and is packed full of stuff which in turn means it's so difficult to get a drawer unlodged i just pick at the stuff i can see and leave the rest, then just buy to replace the accessible food i've used - how mad is that (don't answer that :rotfl:)
Anyway, keep up the good work and i'm gonna try to sort the freezer - arrrggggggh

Glad to see its not just my home which is like this..... the Cupboard Under The Stairs..... loving the Shed of Dread :rotfl: I sorted out ours last summer...
I am slowly going through the attic and ebaying anything vaguely suitable. Hoping to do a car boot in the next 4 weeks or so which will give me time to sort everything out, although the nearest all year round one is about 30 miles away, but doesnt start til 8am
SidneysMum, you're doing brilliantly xx I did my cupboards and freezer on New Years Day and have a book with everything listed. We should have enough to last until end of the month.
Little and often payments off the mortgage are good... Its not such a shock as a big payment, but it all adds up..
Keep going xx

Hey Dansmum
Glad to hear it's not just my house bursting at the seams too!!!!
I've dragged one attic bag down last night ready for ebaying, i mostly think it will take me approx 24 years, 5 months and 3 days to list all of the unwanted, outgrown and just plain useless stuff i have lurking behind closed doors - lol!!!

Universalady - Hi, I hope life if one big adventure for you !!
Lynakers - Thanks for your reply. I have followed your advise and the presents have been delivered. Must have saved myself £20 and done my bit for recycling.
Trixiepix -Thanks for your post. I can just imagine you finding a couple of snowballs ! :rotfl:I thought it was boys who did things like that and not girls !! Good luck sorting your freezer.
Julielizabeth - Thanks for reading my posts - Really appreciated.:o
Dansmum - Like yourself I have started to put a few things aside. I have a huge pile of things in the spare bedroom which are for carbooting. This will have to be in the Summer as there is no chance of me standing around in the cold. But good luck to you. I have found a couple of things to ebay but have decided to wait till I have 5 items to list before I do any.I am also going to copy your idea of a notebook when I get round to the freezer inventry. Gold star !
Today had been a work day so also a NSD. :j I made a £2 payment off the mortgage today. Onwards and downwards. I am hoping I might get some rental income from the property this week and I will also pay that off.
Had yet another day of leftovers - Breakfast was frozen blackberries I picked in the summer and froze. Lunch was a packet of savory rice and half a can of curried beans. I have had both of these in the cupboard for 12 months (still in date). Just glad to see the back of them. For tea we had leftover ham from Sunday with grilled cheese on it (leftover Wednsleydale with cranberies from Christmas). Also had some layered potatoes and sprouts from the freezer. I am loving all these leftovers being put to good use instead of the dog eating them!
No to be outdone by some old hair conditioner which did nothing for my hair, I have now started to use it to clean the loo :rotfl:
I hope you are all having a good, moneysaving day. Thanks for all your replies.0 -
Thanks Sidneysmum....
Well done on todays OP... I should try that really....
Have listed 9 more things on th'ebay :j Batch cooking a vegetable soup in my new slowcooker for tonights tea should get at least 5 servings out of it

Hi Dansmum - You have given me some food for thought. I realise I have got a realy nice coat from Next which I wont wear again in a month of Sundays so that can be listed on ebay. :j You sound really organised batch cooking veg soup.
I have also had a NSD. Mainly because I have been at work. Had yet another day of eating leftovers. Breakfast was summer blackberries again. Lunch was leftover chicken and parsnips with honey and mustard. For tea I made braising steak and onions in the slow cooker. :T
Sidneysdad has offered to help with a freezer list at weekend. I still think we have enough food in there to last for a good while yet. The only things I will need to buy are fresh fruit, milk, and bread plus something for our Sunday meal. Most Sundays I have between 7 - 11 people to cater for so I usually have to buy some meat. This Sunday we am having a change - I am doing a couple of hot pasta dishes plus a couple of home made pizzas. :T I think everyone will be ready for a change from a traditional roast dinner.
I am doing quite well using up my huge stash of cosmetics / toiletries. I finnished up another pot of face cream last night. I have vowed not to buy anything else until I have used up the last of my stock pile. I think I have about 4 unopened bottles of moisturiser left. God knows how many shower gels and body lotions. The only things we use up all the time are shampoo and deodrant. I want to get to that position with all the shower stuff and lotions so that my cupboards are not groaning
Anyway enough of all my ramblings tonight. Hope everyone has had a great, frugal day. Take care :beer:0 -
Hey hun,
After being prompted by your post i decided to gather up all of my unopened toiletries/make up etc just to check out what i had lurking around - blimey how much stuff do i have !!!!!! - more so, how much stuff do i think i need!!!!
Similarly to yourself i'm not gonna be buying any more until it's all used, which looking at it may be next christmas!!!!!
Used freezer stuff for meals this evening (not the snowballs) plus helped my mum defrost her freezer earlier and she sent me home with a bag full of stuff she wasn't going to use.
NSD for me too - yippee, off to do a bit more ebaying - hoping to make my fortune by the weekend - think i may be being a little optimistic - lol:rotfl:
