Vent/Help: Virgin Trains

Options
Hi!

I was on a Virgin train service today, I had bought a return ticket and put it in my bag, I was on the train and the ticket checker come to check my ticket, I couldn't find it after searching, I was then forced into purchasing a new ticket, to which I had refused, The collector insisted I bought one or he would have me removed at the next stop by the police. We got to the last stop and I went to get off but the doors wouldn't open, No passengers were able to get off, A minute later the collector comes with the police who then arrest and walk me through the station. I was so embarrased.

They searched me at the police station and found the ticket. I was given a warning.

Can I claim for compensation of distress and embarrasement? How do I complain?

What do you want to complain about?

You were unable to produce a valid ticket when asked, therefore had to buy a new one.
You refused therefore as far as the TOC staff were concerned you had no right to be on the train and you were treated as any other fare dodger.

You can write to the TOC and explain what happened and they may give you some goodwill gesture, but in future make sure you know where your ticket is.

Get real - you lost your ticket, then you refused to buy a new one. How was the conductor to know that you still had the ticket, if you couldn't even be sure yourself?

I feel I am entitled to compensation for the embarrasement and shame it has brought me in my community they caused!! Plus as goodwill they can refund my ticket. I was in possesion of a ticket, the collector should have gave me benefit of the doubt!

I feel he picked on me because I am African!

I am sensing a big old troll ...

Did the conductor lose your ticket?

Did a non African who had lost their ticket get treated differently to you?

A new bag with less pockets perhaps?.

What happened to you is in effect no different to having valid vehicle tax.
Even if you have purchased it and can prove this, you can still be fined for failing to display it on your car.
You had a valid ticket, but failed to display it when required.

One of the Virgin trains conditions of travel.
If you cannot produce a valid ticket for the class of accommodation and service that you are using you will have to pay the appropriate fare and a penalty fare may also be payable.

I feel he picked on me because I am African!

It's people like you who really do a real disservice to the real victims of racism, and you should be ashamed of yourself for attempting to use this argument simply because you couldn't find your ticket.

I am not a troll, I believe he did treat people similar but he only had me arrested.

I think it is sweet that your whole community was there to see you get taken away by the police.

    Nice.
