Ginger perhaps if you did not post at late hours you would read the thread properly and see I did not whinge about what she was paid -I merely pointed out -correctly -what 7.50 an hour is once you add on tax and ni and what it equated to in actual salary i have to earn -which was as I pointed out 25K .=it is simple economics -for a Nanny to be paid a mother has to earn more than she does or else basically the system does not work. I have till now not expressed an opinion on what she is paid but actually my opinion is that for 7.50 she gets to shop, look after and play with her child, gets very nice food to feed her and her child , gets to take her child to indoor play areas at my expense and basically does exactly what she would do at her own home.
I do a weekend job and get paid 7.50 an hour and my heavens it is hard work for that 7.50 ! so no I don't think it is an unreasonable wage - I think it is a wage lots of people earn for working a lot harder than my particular Nanny.
And yes she will be dumped as she would probably just be making a mug out of me if she was paid £2 or £20 as she basically just wants a paid activity time for her child and to be fed and kept warm to save her heating bills . In fact she puts nany's to shame. -... but them I decided that after about 10 replies from some interested and helpful people.0 -
This thread seems to have gone off topic and more about what you pay! For my tuppence worth I would again perhaps consider a child minder. There are all sorts out there maybe even a 'granny' type that only wants to look after a child for a few days not look after half the neighbourhood and do school runs or have their own childs needs to consider. Thankfully my children are older now and I work shifts around them and dont need child care, however when I did it was a childminder I used and a few phone calls and visits its not hard to work out who would be suitable.:j0

i think it really depends on the job description at interview and how specifi you are as an employer about the nanny role. some parents arent specific but then get frustrated when things "arent right" but we all have difrent ideas where kids are concerned.. evident from most of threads on here!
if the nanny really is "bad" than obviously, regardless of cost or anything else, you must review your options.
for the record on cost; nanny salarys and perks vary greatly, min wage been £5 ph and max i have known 20k plus car, phone, gym membership, etc..
but how much some1 is paid isnt the topic on here.
OP, have you spoke to the nanny yet?
