Do I need insurance?

I have a car which is waiting, on the road outside my house, to be towed away to a car salvage yard. This will happen in the next 2 days. The car is still taxed and MOT'd but can I legally stop my insurance (as I won't be driving it again)?

Please advise.

You're still classed as using it whilst it's on the road.

Get it classed as not on the road.

No doubt that it will be, once it is actually off the road.

As Quentin says, it could turn out to be very expensive if you cancel the insurance for the sake of 2 days cover. If a Police car drives past with ANPR it will ping their systems. You could be faced with a X hundred pound fine, 6 points, a towed car, recovery and impound costs and also backdated tax.
