So we've not quite completed move number one yet! Mostly because DH can't get any time off work to help.
Plan for today is:
PACK
PACK
PACK
PACK!
It seems never ending, we've been packing boxes since Easter and we're still not done. Fed up of half living between places! I know it will all be worth it but .... :cool:Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -

Hey Loumac, have just read your thread from start to finish, you are a true inspiration paying off so much of your debts. I'm currently doing an OU course and working as a teaching assistant in a high school, I'm also pregnant and due in Novemeber, school is hard work when you're preggars isn't it, I don't seem to sit down much in a day and boy are my feet paying for it!
Are you in your new house yet? I bet it is super exciting, I'm having a great time buying all of the baby stuff, it costs a fortune though doesn't it?! I am trying my best to get my debts paid off by the time I'm 30 which is only a couple of months away, not sure I'm going to manage it to be honest, but I can but try!
Looking forward to your next update.

Hello all and thanks missy - lovely to hear from you and thanks for the comments, it is nice to read back and reflect on what has been achieved, especially when we're ready to give in as it can get very hard.
General update from me - summarised....
We moved out of my little flat. 7 years later and a few tears shed.
We moved into my OH's sisters house which was standing empty between tenants.
We lived out of boxes and suitcases and generally were a little stressed.
I turned 30!!!
OH took me to London for a surprise weekend away where I was spoilt with a meal in Hix restaurant and a night watching Romeo and Juliet the ballet at the O2.
We moved into new house.
Work has been manic as it's test time and report writing time and my student teacher was failing and ...well work is the boring bit.
As for money, there's a lot to be desired on the debt front...
We managed to pay £1500 of our deposit on new rental home out of money saved but £300 of other charges had to come out of the overdraft.
The stress of moving twice meant we just booked a removal company second time which cost £200 - also paid for out of the overdraft.
Our tenants in the flat have paid their rent but initial charges leave us with very little and this months mortgage is due out next week. More overdraft?
Temporary house was on a meter and last tenants had used eveything including the emergency so we've had to spend a fair bit there and to top it off now need to pay his sister rent for the 3 weeks we were there too. Not sure where that will be found yet.
Plus...
Moving twice has also taken it's toll on our washing machine which has died today so will need replacing, probably on the credit card.
Oh and our sofa doesn't fit into our new lounge (bad planning!) so at some point that will also need to be replaced. SIGH!
But ...
At last we have a home that's just ours (OH never settled at the flat as it was mine) and can start to get settled and although everything is still in boxes I feel like we can get ready for baby and that's a lot to look forward to. Am generally feeling positive.
Maybe the 4 weeks until the summer holidays has something to do with it!
Sorry for the long message ... it is good to be back online though!Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
wow loumac, don't apologise for the long post, i just wrote a monster one on my diary its nice to do an update!
So much has happened! I'm glad you had a lovely birthday! I don't blame you one bit getting a removal company, especially when you're pregnant and can't do much lifting, I'd have definitely done the same thing.
And poor you with the sofa and the washing machine, moving house is so bloomin expensive, everyone wants paying all at once too don't they.
So glad you're in your lovely house, you'll have to come up with ideas for the nursery now!0 -

Ah now that's sorted already! Best thing about a mother who knows how to ebay well!Ha! My parents have gone baby mad and have been buying non stop pretty much since my 12 week scan.
I already have: cotbed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, changing table, changing mat, moses basket and stand, cot bumper and bedding set - all mamas and papas and a total spend of about £300. Haven't been able to buy anything myself yet - not that I'm moaning!Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
Hi Loumac. glad you have you back. Happy Belated Birthday!
Moving is stressful, I have to do that soon and the thought makes me shudder!
As for the sofa and the washing machine ouch! Have you tried Freecycle as a temporary measure or even Gumtree just as a temporary measure?0 -
That sounds a fab weekend, and bless OH is sounds one in a million, you've done brilliantly with all the moves, and only 4 weeks at school, bet your be glad of the rest.
