How about swapping the power plug fuse for a dead one and then "fixing" it when the sun comes out;)

My 10 year old Bosch dishwasher packed up a couple of months ago (couldn't believe it was 10 years old, looks and went like new, until it broke). It was just the water pump which went - new one £24 off ebay, plus then getting hands dirty fixing it. A new one (the same-ish model, just updated (and more efficient with electricity and water use)) cost £240, with a 5 year guarantee. While I really dislike throwing things away, it really was a no-brainer to get the new one.

Bosch sent a man round to fix a controller in my no-longer new dish washer recently. It seems some of the model had been "overheating" (catching fire ?). The magic number etched into the stainless steel door liner reads SGS43A5 - 2GB/35.

Anyone know of a device that stops the wife doing a 90c wash at 7am in the morning !!! ;)

And yet she ask how much the solar saves us :wall:

    Cheers

It is much more difficult to get across the idea that turning on the cooker, the dish washer and the clothes washer at 08:01 is not a good idea.

It is now a very hard choice, as the super dooper new economy 7 clock-N-meter turns off automatically at 08:00 precisely.

I also had the bright idea of putting the freezer on a time clock so that it turns off for a couple of hours around noon to allow the hot water as a free option.
Keep finding the time clock switched to constant, because the little light did not come on, when the lid was opened. [Back to the drawing board].

Interesting "correspondent's" report on efforts to save electricity in government offices in Korea to avoid blackouts in mid summer and mid winter - guess what, fans and electric heaters all over the place.
  • The longest day and we've generated 1.5 units. I'm preparing teas and BUYING electricity - O the pain!

I had 4KW PV system installed last November - just wondering what is the highest daily output anyones had this year - Mine is 25kwh although my system is split east/west so i don't expect to make the same as someone south facing array - but it would be nice to have an idea what others are generating - Thanks:)
