I had 4KW PV system installed last November - just wondering what is the highest daily output anyones had this year - Mine is 25kwh although my system is split east/west so i don't expect to make the same as someone south facing array - but it would be nice to have an idea what others are generating - Thanks:)

    26.462kwh on 04/06/11
My system is a 3.88KW had it for 18 months

Mine is 26.01 kwh on 25/5/2012 on a 4 kw system which is orientated virtually perfectly west. We are really pleased with it, over the winter it performed badly compared to southern systems, but during the longer hours it has been a star. we have been above predicted generation every month except May which was very wet.

I got 28.449kWh on June 4th on my 4kW South West facing panels.
Could do with some more of that anytime soon please!

The early adopters' boast thread is over here:

Interestingly the last minute adopters (12 dec or 03 mar) seem to demonstrate that they got the improved technology and a 30% reduction in the cost of their system.

    Hi John

There's a good argument to review that performance statement when the panels have been in place for 12 months or so ..... ;)

  • Just to check - I can switch electricity suppliers and not worry about switch where I put my generation readings to and receive payments from?

Only if they will take you, I fear you will find most won't?
I signed up with B Gas partly because I did NOT want to be dependent on my supplier.

That's the idea but I don't know how often it happens. My supplier is E-on but I'm with Good Energy for PV generation.

Maybe we should start a thread just to gather the experiences of those who switch one but not the other?

Nine months ago, I spent the majority of my life savings on solar panels and paid for them completely. I have a number of health issues and wanted to try to ensure I could afford to heat my home for the rest of my life (the contract will take me to aged 87).

It was a big step and very scary but I was lucky enough to install before the rates went down. I am very pleased so far (despite the appalling weather) and certainly the cost would not have earned the same amount of interest if I had left it in savings.

I didn't want to put the 'free' ones on because of my concerns about house resale (my house will probably become my kids pensions...... ) but now have a few questions which I hope someone can help with.........

If I died before the end of 25 years does the balance carry on to my decendants - if one decided to live in my home?

Does any 'balance of time' become part of the equity in the property?

Are the panels liekly to increase the value of the house?

I plan to live AT LEAST another 28 years (so I get out of my pension fund the years I put in, haha) but want to ensure I protect my childrens future. I need to ensure THEY get the benefit if I go decide to go paragliding or summit at 70 and my plan to live long (like me) is dashed....

This may seem depressing to think about but I AM a foreward planner and want to avoid hassel for my children if possible.

PS How do you start a new thread these days? Couldn't find a 'button'........
