Congrats, first day and you've beaten my 2012 best by 40% already! But remember the fun wears off eventually, or so I've been told.

    Mart.

Thank you! I am delighted and got another 21 kWh today too :D

The monitoring system is set up so now I have a webpage open so I can check it lots lol. I don't think the fun will be wearing off for many months - maybe by winter ;)

Excellent. This weather is just perfect for Solar PV!

How did your install go? As expected and no problems or mess etc?

I'm currently at 142% of March's PVGIS estimated figures with a couple more days to go. Hope the nice weather holds so I can finish the month with a sprint

Have been watching your posts with interest as we too have just had panels installed. Not as good as you though: a steady 15kWh per day for the past 3 days. Exciting stuff so far!
    Debbie

It is exciting isn't it? 15kWh per day is great. I'm not quite sure what I expected to generate, reading up on averages isn't the same as getting your actual figures, but we've definitely far exceed expectations. Of course, this unusually gorgeous weather really helps :)

I find it interesting that we generated the same amount today as yesterday, though it was noticeable cooler due to a cold breeze. I can't wait to see what we generate when we hit peak generation.....

I've started to enter my daily readings into an iPhone app to see what I should expect from my FIT payment. 23p per unit doesn't sound like much but they sure add up and £4.83 worth generated both today and yesterday sure make me smile :)

Yes, you'll still get your current rate of FiT payments for the existing 3kW part though the newly installed 1kW will only be liable for the FiT rate at the time of install, 21p at the moment.
Sorry but I believe that is incorrect. If the extension is done less than 12 months after the original installation the whole installation will be downgraded to the 21p rate. See, for example, http://www.fitariffs.co.uk/FITs/regulation/review1_fast-track/Extension_consultation/

The install team were great, very professional. It took longer than expected and was a very long day due to our roof tiles being laid with a 2inch gap longer than normal.....which caused a bit of a headache but the guys sorted it out happily. No mess, prompt paperwork and courtesy calls etc. Very refreshing!

The monitoring system didn't want to play but that got sorted today by the electrician and I can now watch the live feed from the inverter all day if I like on my laptop :)

Really pleased with company and definitely made the right choice. I used BeBa Energy which are based in Hemel Hempstead and we're on the edge of the area they work in.

Totally thrilled we did go with a PV installation and being almost due south, 30 degree slope, no shading plus being in the SW means we should do really well.

Still waiting on the scaffolding to come down and DH will be checking the damage - they were not a careful bunch and were recommended by our builder and not the installers usual guys due to the location. But the installer has already told them they will need to fix any damage so are totally on the ball.

Wow can't believe you're at 142% of March's figures already! Fingers crossed the weather holds for a bit. I'm ready for summer now ;)

    • Extensions commissioned within 12 months of the original installation will be treated as a single new installation from the point of commissioning the extension.
    • The tariff rate (and size) will be those that apply at the time of commissioning the extension.
    • The tariff lifetime of the extension will be reduced by the length of time between the eligibility date of the original installation and the eligibility date of the extended installation.

That just refers to the extension to the installation, not the whole installation.
I believe I'm correct in what I said.

Yes, having read the government consultation response document at http://www.fitariffs.co.uk/library/regulation/110927ExtensionMods.pdf, I believe you are correct and I apologise for causing unnecessary alarm. The extension will be assigned the tariff applicable at the time of the extension, based on the combined installation size, and the original installation should continue unchanged.

First cloudy day since instal on Saturday: I suppose it WAS just too good to be true

Will be interesting to see how production is affected today.

Mon 15.38 Tues 15.27 Wed 15.05 Thur 14.80, perhaps my efficiency is decreasing day by day.....

(still new to this so perhaps a bit keen on the monitoring!)
  • I wonder if the programmers who have set up the various FiT payment systems have got that right especially in the quarter that the extension is commissioned.
They seem to be making mountains out of non existent molehills, for the simple sign up of the registration of my 3.6 kWp system.

"Check all registrations at this address and post code and then apportion 100% of the generation meter reading into contracts by size of registration" (giving a result of say 33% to new contract balance to old contract.").

Or do I misunderstand the situation?

    Hi Debbie,

Here in S Essex, we started off for another power day and at 10:30 we were producing at over £3kW. Fortunately by noon the tank was up to temperature, because the output fell off a cliff, as the clouds arrived. On the monitor, which I think samples every 12 minutes, it is now 1.4kW.
