I can't believe my system generates so much in the winter :)

At last, something which everyone else agrees with. Well Done.

time to put the kettle on, for free :j

No fair, my system at 30deg won't be peaking till April or later, and even then at 3.6kWp it won't be able to sustain 3.5kW, probably nearer 3.3kW.

Thinking of getting my roof pushed out to 50deg!!!!!

  • I think he must be trolling - I had 2.5 units all day.

If you look at the MET office satellite image for south east at midday http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/satpics/latest_uk_ir.html shows clear sky for a short while, a 3.9kWp at 49 degrees is quite likely to produce in excess of 3kW as the monitor above shows, from all the questions asked of don0301, he has (although sometimes abrupt) has given good argument for his system, and had researched well how to correctly? monitor his system.

As it happens for the midlands my 3kWp system was outputting about 2.4kW between 1pm -2.30pm, and knocked up 6.8kWh's.

    What roof pitch?
    What panels?
    Exactly south orientated?
    Un-shaded?
    What Inverter do you have?
    Area of the UK?

I can assure that was my generation at that time, monitor set at 230V, which it always has been. if i used zuepater's method it would read higher :D

ps my full day was 6.2kWh, so you beat me :D

Albyota, if you don't mind me being nosey, what are the specs on your system. I assume you've got a reasonably steep angle too.

My 2.4 at 30deg, and 1.2 at 20deg (3.6 at 27deg) are being killed by those steep angles. I ran Don's system through PVGIS to compare to mine, it should be 30% better, and annually it is. However seasonally it gets more interesting. 10% better in June, and 200% better in December!

Maybe a new thread to compare and contrast generation - I can spend the winter crying into my coffee?
