I though DLA was meant to help pay for extra expenses incurred by a disabled person, i.e. extra heating costs.
It sounds like the stove is something you want rather than something your son needs. Why should you get grant for it? Why can't you buy a couple of oil filled radiators? These are not only cheaper but have the added bonus of being mobile.0 -

Because DLA doesn't cover everything? Many people (including myself) have to use our own money to buy disability related things. Many disability items aren't cheap either.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I appreciate that DLA doesn't cover everything, why should it? But why should the OP get a grant for what many would call a luxury item when there are other cheaper alternatives?
As an aside, where would the fuel come from for the stove? We have used our stove almost every day since the end of September. If we had to pay for the wood it would have been in excess of £400 worth. This is not something a lot of people think about when getting one. Free wood is like rocking horse **** and very hard to come by.0 -

It would take ages to save up for something like the OP needs.
It depends what level of DLA he receives. On middle rate it would take 8/12 weeks to save the cost of buying a stove with the cost of installation taking about the same time again. Basically the money received over one summer.0
