Hi Cat,stocking stitch is basically one row knit, one row purl. The knit row starts with the right side facing you. PM me if you want any help
Dizzy0 -
Hello, and thank you to everyone who wished me well and sent hugs ...I’m feeling much better now – just a little rough around the edges.
Right I’ll update you on our progress so far:
Dog Food:
We’ve experimented with a mix of A**a SM complete food (2kg) and small bag of Wagg dog food (2.5 kg) which is 80p a kg.( 12 x 46p = 552p + 4 x 67p= 268p) = 820p. It's a 3 to 1 ratio we're using now.
He doesn’t seem to be trying to try to gas us yet. So fingers crossed it stays that way. I’ve got the Oust (air freshener) ready, just in case :rotfl::D:rotfl:...
Linux/DVD machine:
Unfortunately it just started to switch itself off (for no logical reason)***rolls his eyes to the sky***...Tried the old process of elimination, and I think it’s something to do with the motherboard. Never mind, I’ve gutted it for parts and hopefully I’ll recoup the money spent, through ebay and the car boot sale (the MSE way choice, as opposed to just binning it). If you don’t succeed at first, try, try, try and try again:rotfl::p...
The Sealed Pot Challenge:
It’s coming along nicely...the pot itself has the first coat of paint on it now...The first licks of paint are going on now...Here's a sneaky peek of it, at an earlier stage.
Mobile Phone:
The phone screen is cracked, the speaker is faulty, to buy a new phone with similar spec would cost roughly £70+ (the other way choice). To get another set of replacement parts from ebay, under £10 (the MSE way choice). We’ve got the parts....let the huffing and puffing, plus bad language commence.
Surplus Wood:
I bought a cheap small wooden shelving unit from Wilkos ten years ago. Well it finally gave up and collapsed on us, I’ve salvaged the best pieces of wood I could (the MSE choice – rather than binning it), and I’m thinking off what I can make from it...Oooo the possibilities (suggestions on a postcard please)....
NCT Sale/Children’s clothes:
We tried to sell the daughters old clothes, and toys at the car boot last year (didn’t have much success with it). Couples turned their nose up at the thought of paying 50p for an outfit (you’d pay at least treble that in a charity shop). All the items were: washed, organised, and in order. Anyway we donated a few things this year and put the rest through the NCT sale. The NCT ladies at the venue were great; we even sold a few things. The ladies are all volunteers for the NCT too. We’ve just got to wait for the letter and cheque to come through for the final amount.
Hope you've all had a good MSE week .😇 Sealed Pot Challenge: Member No: 20: 2012 = £92.14; 2013 = £45.27; 2014 = £54.70; 2015 = ; 2016 = £70.38 2022 = £10.58 2023 = ???? 🍀 2023 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN Mrs SD 65/365 so far. 👾 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 🍀 The Other Way, or the MSE Way: My Personal Challenge 20120 -
Frankenstein's pillow: Do remember it?
It needed to be washed, and guess what? It exploded again...:rotfl::eek:...The lovely wife is keeping the stuffing from it, as she says it costs a fortune for it...and she can use it for something else. Probably a toy, or something
... Anyway, in a stroke of luck, we came across two new ones (bagged and tagged) woo hoo:j:D:j. So were going to use the new ones, and give the older ones to the little ones (the big daughter loves to cuddle them while sleeping:rotfl:). Starting to dwindle down the old supplies of bodywash etc., it's nearly time to try them basic ranges me thinks
:D:rotfl::D:D.

Yay if I converted only one person to a la basics then im happy!!
PS; Im using basics toothpaste for 17p now and its actually quite nice. The sprog prefers it as its not so minty that '..it makes my tongue burn'! I stood in $ainsburys for 30mins comparing the ingredients in the different toothpastes and guess what...pretty much the same!! I only used to buy toothpaste from Poundland anyhoo, so not a massive saving but for every tube of £1 toothpaste that lasted me only 2 weeks, we'd get 5 tubes of 17p toothpaste that will last us 10weeks...AND we'd have change!!2025 Mortgage start £378K 2025 Overpayment £103 Savings Challenge 2025 **MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY**0 -
