They advised me not to cool him off with water as it can make them shiver and temp goes up not down. I think he has a water infection as he said earlier it hurts when he wees so back to the docs tomorrow I expect...but then again he told me the Christmas tree was telling him fibs earlier so who knows...
Going to bung another load in the wm, scrub the loo and go to bed, night everyone x
you don't need to if it is coming down with meds anyway it is only advised if it won't come down at all. It has nothing to do with shivering it is because the surface capillaries dilate to the hot blood goes to the internal organs raising internal body temp. Shivering is the bodies was of creating heat by muscle movement when we are cold.. which is how we get warm when exercising. However, if you are sponging them and they are shivering you have probably done the job.. the internal body temp has dropped to such a low level it needs to generate heat. Again shivering is very often confused with rigors which are associated with rapid changes in body temp..
Water infections are nasty and he should get is checked ASAP to avoid possible associated kidney infections which can cause permanent damage
DS3 and DS2 never responded to paracetamol so had to be sponged down.. DS3 would hallucinate as well which was amusing.. we once had a squirrel which was going to eat me.. it was sitting on my chair arm apparently.. and a huge polar bear in the corner of the room with its claws out.. he was very very ill with terrible flu with this one.. we have pics and he looks dreadfully ill. He had a 3 week tummy bug one time where we simply could not get his temp down.. he ended up with adults paracetamol suppositories (1000mg ones) when he was tiny about 3.. they worked eventually but were NOT fun to use!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Totally agree with you Pigpen...was speaking with my best friend today and her family have had the same flu bug as us...she has a 10 week old baby boy who also caught it but rather than a high temp he was really cold and she couldnt warm him up...trawled internet but couldnt find any info on cold babes so phoned NHS direct who told her to put the heating on:mad::mad::mad::mad: as if she hadnt already done that ....eventually warmed him up with skin to skin and a thick blanket wrapped round them both still took almost 3 hours for his temp to get back to normal.
like they would all have been sitting there freezing!!! lol.. Freja is a nightmare to keep warm and we often resort to snuggling in blankets and my bed.. in fact we did that this afternoon and slept for hours!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

My bed has disappeared under clothes - DD decided to see whether her tie has been caught up in my washing and put stuff from my wardrobe and drawers on it. Let's just say I have quite a few clothes
but I have decluttered a whole load more beauty stuff that was out of date - so all the more space to replace itemsI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Welcome to the thread.
Dont wait until next week - just imagine all the extra jobs you will get done before then if you join in now!
Just start with Level One every day plus the things you do every day anyway.

Pigpen - watch the nose!:rotfl:
I'm on a mission ... always am in January. Each room will be cleaned within an inch of it's life and stay that way until I get bored (in about two weeks) and it will slowly get bad again. I'm nothing if not honest!:D0 -
