I met DH's parents once before we got married, on our wedding day and haven't seen them since, DH has no close friends - he prefers hobbies that encourage being on your own ie fishing or his art work, doesn't have any work do's cos its a small place [he wouldn't go on them if they did them] he says that you can choose who to spend your free time with and he wouldn't choose his work colleagues! It doesn't bother me or him as we are best pals anyway so therefore we spend any free time we have together doing stuff we want to do [when the kiddies are at their Dads]

Today's list was really motivating and helpful - I love the different levels, takes away the pressure but I can see will help get more than basics done over the months.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Valli - that'll be me
Notoriously unsociable......
We have been out to the garden centre (and wanted to buy a polytunnel in the sale but it will not fit in the little car), and bought a bribe for the boys which they can have once the play room is tidy. *cue much evil laughing* If DS1 stopped whining, and started tidying it would be finished now .
Decorations are down and just need pushing in the loft. Just waiting to make sure I have remembered everything first.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

...but if you are unsure, perhaps you have other misgivings not so clearly formed and that's the only one you can really put into words?
Anyway, kitchen is OK, but gradually accumulating things from the living room in preparation for the laminating!
They won't let me get rid of the tree until 12th night. It is beginning to irritate me, and am looking forward to telling KH that he's got a New Year present of a lovely set of pine logs for his woodburner - all he has to do is disassemble the set with an axe, bit like an Airfix kit in reverse .
****Does anyone know if there is a way to get tinsel stains out of glosswork?**** Stripped the stuff off the bannisters/rail and found varying colours of the metal sparkly stuff have stained the white gloss . I don't think The Bloke could really cope with having to sand and paint them as well - he's already had a fit at my asking if he could extend the laminate another 3 foot into the dining area so the table doesn't wobble. [I could do it myself, but he's such a fussbudget, he hates letting me get on with stuff around him and will probably try and take over anyway]
Finally, I was naughty. Very naughty. I recluttered the AV unit with this little gem -
Having talked the salesman down a further £15 on top of the amount it was already dropped down .
The Bloke doesn't take over this bit though. Electricals are my sphere of expertise
Oh, it don't 'arf sound goodI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Having said that my DS can be EXACTLY the same ...
and there are a couple of things which I think, if I were to put them into words it would seem, or be, just petty, Jojo
and isn't it lovely when lady can discuss such things (says she who spent part of new Years Eve eve explaining, over the phone, how to isolate a radiator and the necessity for leaving the heating on to dry out the house *roll eyes* - only to be told that the person in question is 'no good' at DIY - how is damage limitation and being able to isolate a radiator DIY?) But then I don't believe that a person can win a genuine prize from a strip of 'lottery scratchcards' that are supplied 'free' in a newspaper or magazine either and would therefore save myself the cost of a premium rate phone call ...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Well, My OH had to be practically forced to take me to meet them.. after 4 months.. we tend to go once a month now as we have Freja but before we had her is could be 2-3 months without seeing them. He has no friends here.. not one, never goes out as he isn't keen on drinking. He is in contact with a few people mainly via Wow and facebook including several friends he has had for many years.
Do you WANT to see more of his family? I couldn't care less about OH's, as harsh as that sounds, but they are nothing to me, I have no feeling towards them one way or the other, complete indifference.. but I do have a significant lack of social skills lol.
I think you may be looking for issues with those cold feet of yours? Is this possible?
I don't have time for intimate friendships.. but I have people that I know if I needed them I could call on them and they know I would be here if they needed me and when we do meet up it is as though we saw each other only last week. These longstanding friendships are far more important than the fickle fair-weather friends IMO.
You could ask him why he doesn't see much of his family.. maybe he doesn't like them! Ask him about friends.. he could have spent all his time working or away from home or just not have the need for friends.. or he could have a friend base like mine.. 2 locally who are very busy with their own lives though we all know we are there any time, and 1 very far away that I could call on if I needed her.. and you lot! My family however live in my pockets and while we know what everyone is up to I don't necessarily see a lot of them.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Im quite unsociable and don't have that much family to speak of. When I met my OH I was very much a loner and coudn't and/or woudnt have anyone to introduce him to. It took time and eventually we went on to make and meet friend together. I wouldnt be too worried. But then again if something is niggling is there perhaps a reason?0
