Surprised he can manage his landlord duties from what you say - nevertheless you have tenants rights, so no need to lose any of these.

Do you know what he can't manage his landlord duties which is why my dad had power of attourney over him but then my dad had a stroke and can't manage anything either which is why I now have POA over both of them.

All I wanted was to see if there was a way I could fix the problem myself without having to pay out a lot of money - hence using the mse website.

Luckily some nice poster helped me to do that.

I can't believe someone who has been a member as long as yourself has come out with such spiteful remarks but there you go.

It will be the garage door that is the problem.

the keys are fairly passive and will just do what they are told.

See if it happens again tonight,if it does then get the garage door system checked.

Thanks I will see what happens overnight. :)

Just an idea ...but may be worth thinking of next year.

Does the garage door have some kind of safety reprogram set for 1st of January ?

It just seems weird it would happen on new years day rather than any other ?

That's it ...you have used all my powers of reasoning on this thread ....Off to rest on some simpler threads :)

Maybe - I did think it was weird it happened just in the new year and also I rang my sister and she said her TV remote had just today started operating her little boys remote control car - so I was starting to think it was some sort of international electrical problem and maybe the robots were about to take over. But no all sorted now thankyou.

You say you have mental health problems - have these twisted what I have posted into "spiteful" remarks? And what has my age to do with any advice given?

Anyway glad you got your car going and so will have solved your original problem about work on Tuesday!

Is there no conflict of interest you having POA over your Landlord?

Whatever the situation, if the garage doors are causing this problem you should definitely be able to get your landlord to pay for the necessary repairs, or to pay yourself and authorise yourself to deduct the cost from your rent!

I have had pm's tellling me to ignore the nasty spiteful posts on this thread so it's not only me who has taken yours and Gene-hunts posts in this manner. He has only been a member for a few weeks so I assumed he is a troll but as you have been a member so long it did shock me.

I may have depression - which is controlled with medication but I am not mentally unstable.

Maybe you should read back over you posts and see how they read.

TBH I don't know about the situation regarding landlord duties and my grandads house all I know is my grandad fell over and broke his one leg and so had to go into a home - his house was left empty and he didn't have much savings to fund his care home fees. I agreed with my dad I would move in and pay him rent to help cover the care home costs. My dad then had a stroke and has brain damage so I had to take POA over his affairs. All I know is the house is owned by my grandad and I pay into his bank account the rent where his care home fees get paid from. If anything goes wrong I fix it myself if I can afford to I pay myself but if it's expensive I take the money out of my rent but I don't like to do this as he is running out of savings fast.

I don't know what more I can say - yes I posted in the OP "How am I going to get to work Tues?" but that was meant more in jest - of course if the car was still not working I would have found a way either public transport or a lift.

All I was asking for was some advice on what was wrong with my car and if anyone knew how to fix it to save me paying out a lot of money.

I dunno why you are now playing the sympathy card then!

Or are you the only one allowed any jest?

Why not use the ignore button your friends advise?

Maybe because you have enjoyed the playground with your "nasty" namecalling etc!

(Read your posts and you'll see it was sometime after your original "jest" you decided to tell us you don't "have" a house with all electric gates and garage doors and didn't know how to get to work on Tuesday you then backtracked to tell us you rent a property off the one legged grandad with dementia!)

I was not playing the sympathy card - I only explained the situation about my grandad and dad because you kept going on about the landlord issue and I was trying to explain how it was not that simple.

I only posted about my other problems as someone (Gene-Hunt) posted about how I was lucky the key fob problem was my only problem.

I call my grandads place my house because I have lived here for 18 months and it feels like my house - I only posted to explain it wasn't owned by me as people were posting nasty comments as if I was showing off about having electric gates and an electric garage.

Immediate thought is the garage door system is an illegal import which operates on the same frequency as car remotes and outputs such a massive signal level as to "jam" the cars receiver unit.
