Have you tried putting new batteries in? Long shot, but some things do behave oddly when the batteries are low, or cold.... so, if you don't have a new battery to try, then take out the one you've got and warm it up in your hands for 10 minutes.

Hi we have just taken the batteries out and we will try putting them back in a few mins - but the fact it's both key fobs makes me think it's not that.

Are you sure you have the right fobs.

I agree they work best with the batteries in.

The batteries might be the same age, the fobs might have been together in a bit of a cold draught in the house.

Thats really helpful thanks a lot - I live in my grandads bungalow which I could never afford to buy myself as he has only one leg and has had to go into a care home and I rent his place to help fund his care home fees.

Glad you found it helpful (though no need to post thanks on MSE - there's a thank you button in each post).

Now you have given more details, you need worry no more - it seems this problem is your landlords - his posh electronic gates/doors have somehow interfered with your car.

Get it sorted at the garage, and deduct the bill (as well as any fares etc) from the rent.

Try and reprogram the keys on the honda.
    instructions here:

    http://www.programyourkeys.com/Honda.html

If it was me I would do this well away from the electric gate or garage.

remember to do all the keys (spares)

I reckon something has reprogrammed everything within it's proximity.

    That is just nasty.

This is a site for saving money.

Sorry you don't like the advice, but it's sound and will save you some money! Check your lease to see what are your responsibilities and what are your landlord's.

If your landlord kicks up a fuss, see your CAB for some advice on how to resolve the issue, though my suggestion on deducting your costs from the rent will focus his mind on getting his interfering posh gates neutered.

Thanks I will try that. My OH asked the question on another site and they think someone may have tried to steal the car last night using a scanner that uses different frequencies to open vehicles.
