Although the police didnt given details of the child to the OP at the time, they have to when she request it in writing chasing the girl's parents or legal guardian for damage cost. There will be no point in sueing any private individuals in this world then as they might have no money?
That's not good English innit?0 -
As stated earlier, we had a 14 year slam into the side of our car and there was no damage(to the car).vikingaero wrote: »Generally any damage larger than a paperback book requires a new panel rather than being beaten back into submission. A girl slamming into a side of 3 door car I imagine will have taken out/dented the rear 3/4 panel which is the largest panel and spot welded for additional cost of repair. There may also be damage to the door.
£1,800 worth of damage isn't a lot on most modern cars. Those who question it should remarkable lack of knowledge of car repair techniques - paint, labour, NI, warehouse, electricity, oven, masking, paper, welding, VAT... the list goes on The cost of paint alone for the side of the car will be £300+ depending on the colour, metallic, make and model. Seems like too many people think of £50 cash in hand jobs for mates rates.
I would agree that it would be possible to claim against the parents as legal guardians of the 14 year old. But there seem to be too many "think of the child!" members on here who want to indemnify the negligent child and their parents against costs. These members would probably attempt a skank if their child ran into a car which is why they are saying it. Me? If any of the Vikingettes did so I would be the first to write out a cheque for £1,800 - painful as it might be. Do the crime. Do the time. (Unless you're a skanky NuLabour tightfisted MSE member who has no concept of personal responsibility).
What were these 14 year olds doing? Was it a game of chicken? Were they fooling around? Were they even drunk? Were they chasing each other? Did you have witnesses? Despite what others say, not all 14 year olds are angels. I think you deserve to know more than the police are saying.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

How can they think of the cost before hand, if they knew nothing about it?0 -

Unless you are confident a defendant can pay any order the county court makes against them then paying for a court case is just good money after bad.
It's up to the claimant to enforce any order (not the court), and to pay the costs of any enforcement used - and this is only refunded should the enforcement be successful, which again will only happen if the defendant has the funds (or owns anything of value that can be seized)0 -

Like to see them try.
But then you are the expert on such matters.
Shows you know nothing about this. People like you think you know it all and when you dont know you like to ask people 'why?, how? Prove it so you can gain from their knowledge.
Me making some english/grammatical errors isn't a big deal on a forum, talking turd is.0 -
