Involved in a car accident with a pedestrian

Some people on here have a very strange sense of humour. Joking about a 14 year old girls virginity?
Op I can understand why you would be annoyed, if you weren't held to blame and have a large bill due to somebody else's stupid actions (and it was stupid at 14 years old to run across a busy road) I wouldn't be to happy either. Why can't people take responsibility for their own actions, or if they are a child, then the parents should take responsibility. Seems very unfair to me.
What if the parents don't have £500?0 -

Then they'll have to see the car as a damage repairable.
Sorry not sure what you mean? I believe if you damage somebody's property, then you pay for it! Course the most important thing is that she is ok, doesn't help the OP much though if he has a damaged car that he can't afford to repair.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I had visions of the OP being a female.. I may be wrong.;)0 -
To save money in future, the OP would be better off trying to get the insurance excess reduced ASAP to a level she can afford than contemplating spending more money on court action.I will look into the small claims court.
No good crying now over the spilt milk of a £500 excess which you accepted of your own freewill, presumably in return for paying less premium.0 -

What if the OP's doesn't? Why should they be out of pocket for somebody else's mistake?
They out of pocket because they chose a £500 excess.
They would be even more out of pocket if they had chosen 3rd party.
They would be in the same position if a deer had run into their car.
It is a shame but it is the way it is.
I was annoyed when someone stole my car and rammed a police car with it and I was told to pay my own excess as the guy who stole it had nothing and no way of paying even if I took him to small claims to get it back.
Makes me think hard now about what I am really happy to pay as an excess should it happen again , rather than just seeing it as something to get my premiums down.0 -
