Seems that the go slow has only happened in the last month or so. I can usually go and run a bath or put the washing in the machine while everything loads up. I am too impatient to sit and watch it warm up, it is like the kettle that never boils until you turn your back. I don't download music or films but I have been putting lots of pics on board so that is where the question came from. I will have a look to see if anything I have on here has masses of gbts. I will have a look tomorrow as my Oh says it is time I turned in for the night as I have to get up early tomorrow.:beer:0

Norton is !!!!!!. I had it for years simply because it was already installed in my lappies when I bought them. It's gigantic set of files and takes up a lot of disc space. I remove it and installed free security and now the lappies run faster. I also run CCleaner every couple of days, which keeps my machine lean and mean...Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

Norton is a system resource hogger I would download the free version of AVG http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5 then uninstall Norton using the removal tool http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 then restart your PC and then install AVG you may need a free firewall aswell like kerio free http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm0

glad is like an all seeing being.
She will 'sense' your question and drift it across the ether to the techie board.

p.s. I have years of hassle free running with every Norton product that I've ever used, either at home or at work - which is a lot more than can be said for some of the 'you really must try this, it's great' pieces of software that I've had recommended to me, either on here, or elsewhere.0 -
Yep, you are right Glad has promoted me to the Techie Board. Haven't found this side before so lots of interesting reading to do. Thanks everyone for all your help, I am going to investigate all of the info later. Have to check out house insurance now, boring!0

be careful on here as one of the Admins people is Fran.
Now I wouldn't ever say anything nasty about an admins person / mod on MSE, but I've noticed that you never see a picture of Fran & Darth Vadar together.
I'll let you draw your own conclusion .

First question to ask really is how much ram do you have in your computer and then if you are using xp, click your start menu, go to run, type msconfig, and look to see how many programs are set to start up along with your computer. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0
