Well done Mrs M - that's fab hope you get the 2lb loss you want:)

I am hoping for 2lb this week as that will get me to my 2.5 stone sticker:)

Went to a christening this afternoon - and back to the house after for a couple of hours - buffet table full of food but I could not eat anything as nothing was vegan - took a bag of french fries (have had those in the house since before Christmas and not eaten them until today!) was hungry so did get a banana from the baby fruit bowl! Also had a glass of wine but watered it down with diet lemonade.

So I've done ok this weekend and avoided having a flexi day just, booze free night out Fri, Chinese Sat - but got mine from the place that does vegan/low fat, couldnt eat the birthday cake as not vegan so had fruit salad.

Next Fri/Sat/Sun will test me as my birthday and there will be cake 3 days running - all vegan so I need 3 flexi eves in a row:eek: will be doing Body Pump, Zumba and several 3 mile walks and being good in the week before/after as want to enjoy my birthday!

    Just a quickie wink.gif

Survived the X Factor but didn't survive KFC - only 1 chicken strip though (4 syns)

Spag bol for my tea with a nice glass of red - 8 syns

Total syns for day: 12 (incl butter, marmalade for brekkie & chorizo in quiche for lunch)

    Sunday 20 Feb

B: Sunday morning brunch: bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, poached egg, 2 wm toast (HEB)

L: Quick Quiche in hand! Banana

T: Slow cooker chicken casserole with parsnips, carrots, onion, red & green peppers, cabbage

    2 glasses white wine & lemonade - 8 syns

Just a note re: sw quiche. I blend the cottage cheese with the egg mixture so no lumps ;) I microwaved a potato then peeled the skin and sliced to form the base of the quiche. I agree strong flavours help the quiche - mine yesterday was chorizo, ham, mushrooms, red pepper and a sprinkling of cheese on top (HEA). My potato did not discolour and it was the best quiche yet :T

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend and all the poorlies are feeling better.

Thanks so much for the good wishes - I feel so much better today and I am sure that this is partly due to your kind words xx

Congrats to Mags and MrsM and all other losers!

Can't believe it's Sunday evening again already. Had a good weekend on plan but am having small piece of fruit cake this evening as have huge craving for it!
  • Evening everyone :)

Hope you dont mind me joining in! I was reccomended this thread by another member on here as i want to start a healthy eating plan to help both myself but mainly my son, stop gaining weight! But to be fair i was pretty clueles about what we should and shouldnt be eating! I have a rl friend that is following the sw plan so i went to talk to her this morning about how it all works and she explained it all for me....and even gave me her mums books as her mum stopped going :) So i am going to attempt to follow this from home by myself without going to a group (to be honest i cant really afford it as i would also need to pay for a babysitter)

I myself want to lose about 3.9 stone (im 5ft 3 and weigh 13st 9lbs) and my 8 year old son weighs 8st 9lb :( so i want him to stop gaining anymore weight. I have wrote down loads of recipes and cant wait to get started properly...i especially love the butter chicken one above as its my fave meal!!

    oooh im all excited lol

    Hi Dizzy,
Thanks for replying and welcoming me, sorry its taking so long to reply. I will try and post the info for the ham tomorrow, please can you tell me which bits you need to know.
I had a i go at a quiche the other day and I used quark instead of cottage cheese as I didn't like the idea of the lumps and also I only really like the pineapple cottage cheese and you have to syn that. 2 questions about the quiche, 1 - if you use cottage cheese do the lumps dissapear, or do they stay and 2 - the one I made had the potato base and I added bacon, mushroom and onion, it was rather nice, tasted better once it had been in the fridge overnight, when it was warm it tasted more like an omlette (is this normal), but the question is, does anyone else find that the potato and onion go a funny grey colour once it has been in the fridge? I tasted nice, just looked a bit odd, and if i'm gonna put it out for party food it might put people off!!
    Any help appreciated. :D

I'm with Blackberry in as much as I don't see the point of eating anything you don't like. The quiche works just as well without cottage cheese so if you don't like it, leave it out of the recipe :)

My own favourite quiche recipes are these:-

Syn free onion & leek quiche : Chop 1 large onion and 2 leeks and saut! in Frylight till soft and golden. Put them into a flan dish. Whisk 3 large eggs and season to taste. Pour over the onion & leeks and put in the oven till set (again about 30-40 minutes on gas 6).

Syn free potato & onion quiche: Slice cooked new potatoes and red onion in the bottom of a dish. Whisk 3 eggs and pour over the potato & onion. Season with black pepper and cook for about 30 minutes or until set.

The thing is, quiches are so forgiving that you can chuck just about anything in and as long as you use enough eggs, it will set. Just put in your favourite combination of goodies :)

  • A big welcome to all the new members among us and Taliahmai, you can't do anything better for your son than to teach him healthy eating habits - it will pay dividends all his life.

TakeItEazy - don't worry about letting it all hang out on the boards. If it's good for you to get it all out, the least we can do is try to help a bit by listening and empathising.

Maman, why not write to the magazine and tell then about the recipe you tried? It could be that it was a printing error, but if the recipe doesn't work, I'm sure they'd want to know.

Well done on the losses this week, some really good ones out there again. Magnolia isn't it great to be free of that low-carb routine?

Hope everyone is having a fab Sunday!

Does anyone know about these fake 'ferrero rochers' that you can make in SW? something like Nutella balls rolled in mashed up scanbran? I was wondering if anyone has tried them and how many syns each one has providing they are roughly the same size as ferrero rocher?
My sweet tooth has been demanding again this weekend and i want to try and find some low syn alternatives!

    Todays plan: Extra Easy

B: Quorn Sausage and poached egg open sandwich (Wholemeal bread 2 slices (4.5 + HEB)) 1 apple

L: Tuna Pasta made with ff natural yoghurt and salad, activia snackpot raspberry, 1 orange

T: Sunday Roast, lots of veggies and mashed potato. gravy (3 syns)

    Snacks: Kit Kat (2.5)
Raspberries and Blueberries with ff nat yoghurt sweetened.
    HEA = Milk in Tea.

    Hi Cande,

I make the quiche using cottage cheese with onion & chives... think I'd barf if I used the one with pineapple in it! I also mix in some quark or natural yogurt (usually whatever has a sell by date that probably closer to last month than this one, and the contents don't have a furry coating).

Ha! A woman after my own heart :D

I have a friend who merrily throws everything in the bin if it's one day over the sell-by date....well, she used to throw it in the bin, I now take it off her hands. She thinks I give it to the dogs, but in all honesty, most of it goes in OH and me and we're none the worse for it. I hate waste
